  1. The Line
    by KALANDRA
    Naive Naive
It's hard to understate just how impressive this album is. Katrine's vocals are outstanding both on the record and live. They're haunting and deliver so much emotion. Overall this record is dramatic, powerful, and yet heavily grounded. Every song is perfectly packaged.
  2. Fishing For An Apparition
    by Iomair
  3. FOOL // savior
    by Alden Groves
    Undone Undone
No chance this is a free album, because this is Alden's greatest work. The songwriting and electronic experimentation mixed with hip hop is really magnificent. The lyrics are a bit preachy for my taste but they don't detract from the bigger picture.
  4. Glad To Be Dead
    by Wine From Tears
  5. Through The Eyes Of A Mad
    by Wine From Tears
  6. I'm Fine
    by Wine From Tears
Whales Swim Up Whales Swim Up
This album is so depressing it's fantastic. It's standard melodeath/doom, but gives more of a feeling of hopelessness than other bands. Regarding subject matter, the album cover and tracks are quite direct, and the inclusion of spoken vocals, samples and sound effects really helps make some tracks memorable. This album is definitely the most inspired material from Wine From Tears, and their best sounding tracks yet.
  7. Lore of the Lakes
    by Inexorum
  8. Equinox Vigil
    by Inexorum
    Creation Myth Creation Myth
A sleeper pick for AOTY, Inexorum once again effortlessly make the best melodic black metal on the planet. Using more melodeath songwriting techniques than previous works, Equinox Vigil features relatively simple verse/chorus structures and melody without sacrificing any aggression of the black metal influences. Their solos contribute magnificently to song progression, and each track is a wonderful experience from start to finish.
  9. Moonlit Navigation

  10. Disciple

    Ante Ante
Solid melodeath metal album with lyrical themes from anime/video games. Impressive quality for such an overlooked band. Only major gripe are the clean vocal harmonies on Unsafe Travels and Marked by Crows, but every other track has really exciting, memorable riffs with great female growls
  11. Aamamata
    by Helevorn
    Blackened Waves Blackened Waves
Incredible songwriting coupled with the outstanding vocal performance of Josep Brunet with deep, powerful death growls paired with dramatic, gothic baritone cleans. Aamamata does death/doom better than many established acts have done in years.
  12. Forthcoming Displeasures

  13. Compassion Forlorn

    Burden Me Burden Me
  14. Aconitum
    by Perpetual Night
    Rotten Bond Rotten Bond
Shades of Insomnium but with SO MUCH original flavor, Perpetual Night pulled out all of the stops when they wrote this album. Want some jazzy saxophone or emotional flamenco mixed into your metal? You got it! I'm going to have this one on repeat for a long time.
  15. Anâtman
    by Perpetual Night
The Howling (Feat Raquel Eugenio) The Howling (Feat Raquel Eugenio)
Perpetual Night's debut album is a well-produced professional melodeath record that proudly wears its influences on its sleeve. With great songwriting and memorable riffs you can't go wrong with adding this to your collection.
  16. Between Light And Darkness (Compilation)
    by Perpetual Night
  17. The Void
    by Inner Turmoil
Wrath of the Warrior Wrath of the Warrior
This album is so kickass! I really appreciate the more modern, technical take on the melodeath model while still remaining faithful to the excellent songwriting and riffing. The tracks are memorable and full of character. I can't wait for Inner Turmoil's next release

I don't always expect charity albums to have the best material, but it's evident that this one DOES. Really well-polished tracks with a lot of character from diverse genres throughout the entire album. Really happy I've been introduced with so many outstanding Bulgarian rock bands that I will continue to check out.
