This album is solid gold, a perfetcly crafted blend of badass riffs/catchy tunes/moody & dark ambiance, all of this with a great, Borknagar-quality singing. This is the exemplification why I love the progressive black/death Norwegian style. I've been listening to it again and again since I bought it, and Image Of Time is just stuck in my head.
I was expecting this! Wasn't disappointed. I can feel the style has evolved a bit since Entities. Boundless progresses between airy, joyful and darker moments (cf Color Theory), while Entities "tone" was steadier.
Wow. Where are my screams ? ^^ Easier to get into that their previous albums (it's sort of hard to believe it's the same band that once made Silent Circus, and yet I love to hear that kind of stylistic evolution) the prog elements are still of course massively present. It's a great addition to BTBAM discography, exploring deeper some stuff that began on The Parallax II.
Piece of advice: don't listen to this album alone, in the dark, with your eyes closed. Because at one moment, you'll start wondering if you're still walking the earth or lost in your darkest nightmare. Or just f**king do it and it'll be a really special experience.
Folk metal f**king done right! As progressive as it gets, never resorting to easy folk melodies yet always deliciously catchy, and always providing something fresh and interesting to your ears. Wonderful!
