Looking forward to a new album! Park's rhythmically chaotic and sweepingly melodic songs get me moving, and smashing through the proverbial barricades!
  32. The Sitting Room Sessions
    by DARTZ!
    favorite track 00:00/00:00
    Dedalus Dedalus
"YOU DON'T STAND A CHANCE, DEDALUS!!!" I'm really glad I got to hear these last 3 tracks from Dartz! 'Dedalus' seems like the quintessential Dartz! song. Their literary and propulsive songs always get me going. I'm looking forward to following William Anderson's work in the band Algiers.
  33. This Is My Ship
    by DARTZ!
    favorite track 00:00/00:00
Network! Network! Network! Network! Network! Network!
A fabulous record. They play their instruments with heart and skill. Doesn't quite sound like anything else to me. I like how the vocals drift just beneath the frenzied whir of the music, and yet somehow remain the focus, and bring the listener into the disjointed, but compellingly human story they're telling. I'm partial to "Network!", "St. Petersburg," and "Fantastic Apparatus."
  34. Me and the Machine
    by Be Cool Cowboy
    favorite track 00:00/00:00
    Crimes Crimes
Unique mini-album of evocative fuzz-pop songs. I like the interesting textures, and overall crispness. Familiar, but doesn't sound like anything you know. Well worth your time! RIYL: Spoon, Nine Inch Nails, Sebadoh. Favorite song: Time, LA, Crimes
  35. Little Wiser
    by Be Cool Cowboy
    track 00:00/00:00
A sunny pop tune wrung from a 4-track recorder. With a sparse arrangement of fuzzed guitars over a drum machine, the focus is the candy-sweet melody. Is the melodic sound akin to the power-pop of Apples in Stereo and Fountains of Wayne? Or is it quirky new-wave a la Devo, or cut from the same cloth as mercurial troubadours like Jeff Mangum? As the song says, "oh hey well never mind." BCC's music is as visceral as opening up a new pack of baseball cards. Light a firework, it's summer.
  36. Affordable Dreams
    by Lobby Art
    favorite track 00:00/00:00
At the Time It's Almost Dark At the Time It's Almost Dark
This is like hearing RUN-DMC and the Beastie Boys rap about contemporary art and dating while you're high on LSD in 1960's London. The production is a car crash of vintage samples, while the live band serves up some serious garage-rock, funk, soul, and noise. Each rapper brings a unique flow and the lyrics are socially keen and funny. This is the sound of underground hip-hop and indie-rock colliding in 2015.
