    Afterwards Afterwards
Can’t imagine anything hitting harder. It’s raw & beautiful, a haunting portrait of someone simultaneously bleeding out & healing, of survival & endurance. Just brave as hell.
  2. Me & Ennui Are Friends, Baby
    by Sarah Mary Chadwick
Let’s Go Home Let’s Go Home
Greatest recent musical discovery. This album is now one of my favorites of the year. A mix of Shane MacGowan, Courtney Barnett, and Daniel Johnston by way of Jean Rhys and Charles Bukowski. So damn heart-rending and beautiful.
  3. Engine of Hell
    by Emma Ruth Rundle
Echoes of Joni Mitchell and early Tori Amos but its own dark, swirling thing. Beautiful. My favorite album of the year.

Rune (for Silent Guitar) Rune (for Silent Guitar)

Full of tension and shadows. Heavy noir vibes. The musical equivalent of John Alton’s cinematography. Dark poetic swelterings that build and breathe, whisper and bleed.

    The Plan The Plan
Have only been through the whole thing twice, but I’m already calling it as one of my favorite albums of the year. Brilliant, haunting. Full of ghosts and grit. Just great track after great track. For fans of Jason Molina, Leonard Cohen, and Vic Chesnutt.

    When I'm a Wreck When I'm a Wreck
A stunner. Floats with ease but also hits hard. Highest recommendation.
  17. Richmond Fontaine - A Farewell Show

A Night In The City A Night In The City
An epic knockout live set from one of my favorite bands. Great track after great track after great track. Hard to pick a favorite (especially considering the fact that “Post to Wire,” “Winner’s Casino,” “The Boyfriends,” and “Always on the Ride” are some of the best songs ever), but “A Night in the City” feels especially urgent here.

    Pre-fabled Pre-fabled
Been listening to it on a loop. A late addition to my favorite albums of 2020 for sure. Engrossing, cinematic, epic. The kind of music I love to write to. I know it’ll stay in heavy rotation alongside go-tos like William Tyler, Jóhann Jóhannsson, John Carpenter, Dirty Three, and Nick Cave and Warren Ellis’s film scores.
