  8. Feast of Love
    by Pity Sex
It boils down to one word: fuzz. I spoke to the bassist from Lemuria (humble namedrop) a while back and I asked him if he liked these guys. Yes, he said, it's the way they blend the shoegaze into the pop-punk that gets me. Couldn't agree more. Sounds like MBV had a baby with the emo revival (sort out those logistics).

When You're Around When You're Around
Ah, God, do I love this guy's voice... so pop-punk, but so shoegazey, at the same time. It's a wonderful juxtaposition. I prefer Feast of Love but this one's still extremely good, especially whereas it's an EP that packs the punch of an LP. Tight.
  10. The Harvest Month
    by Meridian
New Ways / Old Days New Ways / Old Days
Sure to inspire untold dozens of similar projects in time. Witness Meridian write one song a day for an entire month. the results are mixed, of course, but consider the timeframe, and the sheer pressure put on the artist, and you begin to realize what skill was required to craft this record. RIYL Jets to Brazil, and that's never a bad thing.
  11. Aging Truths
    by Meridian
Love & A Sense Of Belonging Love & A Sense Of Belonging
Meridian are definitely one of the underrated bands in the current crop of emo revivalists. You can't complain about the ten tracks offered up here, not if you're into pop-punk. Strong, earthy overtones of the American Midwest... just with more banjo, maybe? The second coming of JTB-era Blake Schwarzenbach. They should tour together or something.
  12. TIME MACHINE BLUES
by Owen Steel & The Sad Turns
    Q.O.P Q.O.P
Owen Steel is the best thing to come out of New Brunswick since... like... the prop plane, donairs, and birch bark canoes. Don't ask questions. Pull the trigger. This man mumbles for you. If you like folk, jazz, blues, or indie rock, it's a no-brainer. Owen Steel is a sharp shooter with upper-level management written all over him.
  13. Reel Ruffs

D.W.I (eat my supper like they do in that movie Hook) D.W.I (eat my supper like they do in that movie Hook)
This is a great album, IMHO; despite its having been relegated to the status of "b-sides and rarities collection," it actually showcases some pretty strong performances on the part of Owen Steel et al. (Wait, that used to be the name of the band. They're The Sad Turns, now. Get it right, asshole.)
