At long last, a Satellite Young Album! And I absolutely love it! Although much of it has already been released as singles, it all melds together into a tight package, plus all the new songs are fantastic additions, especially the emotional "Sanfransokyo Girl". While European & American synthwave are far more common, SY spearheads a branch of synthwave I hope to see more of that draws upon the vast overlooked 80s JPop pool, and manages to combine all its best elements together. BUY IT!

Flame (feat. Dana Jean Phoenix) Flame (feat. Dana Jean Phoenix)
Can't... get... the song "Flame"... out of my head! Way... too... damn... catchy! Seriously though, Powernerd's short EP presents a tight and slick fusion of melody, power, and class in each of these tracks. Also, "I See Murder" is totally wicked as well! These two aforementioned tracks are new favorites of mine.
  21. GLITCH
    by LukHash
    00:00/00:00
    SECRET LEVEL SECRET LEVEL
Once again, LukHash delivers a solid and sleek electro/chiptune hybrid that pumps you up and exudes a great deal of class in the songwriting throughout its 12 superb tracks. If there existed a proper dance club for chiptune, LukHash would be smoking the competition with all the pulse-pounding buildups and interlacing synth melodies. Lots of variety and all killer, no filler. Can't go wrong with LukHash, and Glitch is certainly no exception!
  22. Empire of The Madness
    by Arcadise
    00:00/00:00
Empire of The Madness Empire of The Madness
Cinematic darksynth! Very intense and full of force, while retaining a continuous soundtrack quality, not unlike Perturbator, but with somewhat of 0a Dance With The Dead quality with the prominent guitars firing alongside the synths. What also sets Arcadise apart are the effective use of organs during specific parts. Awesome stuff!
  23. Satellite Young feat. Mitch Murder - Sniper Rouge
    by Satellite Young
    00:00/00:00
Ahh I almost missed this one! Satellite Young is back with another fantastic retro-Jpop gem, this time teaming up with synthwave powerhouse Mitch Murder. Great tune, and Satellite Young continues to deliver a solid and unique approach to every song they undertake that separates it from others they've done. Can't wait to hear more!

    00:00/00:00
    ON FIRE ON FIRE
Harsh, in your face, full-on industrial noise meant to sand-blast your senses! Opening track "On Fire" and "Spasm" really hit you hard and heavy on the atonal electo-beats, while "Substance" and "Resurrection" both take it down a notch, but ramps up the atmosphere in unique ways. Excellent stuff.

The Man who made a Monster The Man who made a Monster
The masters of dark synthwave do it again. Easily my favorite new DwtD release, just barely edging out the classic Out Of Body. It's only, and I mean ONLY flaw... is that it's called B-sides. These diamonds may have existed as B-sides at once point, but don't let the name fool you, this is a grade-A, ironclad, sonic watershed of pure kickass material, coupled with a welcome injection of experimentation and tempo variety throughout. HIGHLY recommended!

Sands Of Perdition Sands Of Perdition
Sweet cyborg Jesus I can't stop listening to this! As a huge fan of both the Thunder Force IV and V soundtracks, this spiritual expansion of the former is everything a chiptune tribute should be and more. It manages the rare feat of perfectly caricaturing the original Megadrive soundscape while expanding it into something even better with the seamless stellar guitar additions. The whole album is top notch, although Sands Of Perdition may just be my new all-time favorite chiptune headbanger.
  29. The Legacy Collection, Vol I
    by Dynatron
    00:00/00:00
On the Edge of Space On the Edge of Space
Very happy that Dynatron decided to release their EPs and various odds 'n ends tracks into two albums. Here, you get their two awesome EP releases. Flashbacks is still my favorite of the two, and I find it odd not to start with that one first (the opening track is even called "Intro"), but nevertheless, if you don't already have these, this is the best way to get them all now. Highly recommended!

    Excellerator Excellerator
Another solid Dynatron compilation. This one is even more essential in some ways since this comprises various tracks split across many compilations. There's a lot of solid material here, although my personal favorite would have to be the amazingly somber space-wide driving epic "Excellerator", fueled by dense atmospheric bass lines, echoic drums and powerful guitar/keys.
