Naal conjures up brooding emotion in this album reminiscent of Cliff Martinez's work on Drive. And yet, somehow, there is an optimistic seed that emerges from the ambient waves. I think this is a collection that will continue to unveil itself and shape-shift upon subsequent listenings.
