  1. HOMEWORKS VOL. 1
    by Brutal Slap Academy
i bought this as soon as i heard the opening track. NO favs. it was already tempting with Lil Kevo and Shoebill being on the same comp! this is srsly some of the best hardcore to ever bless my tinnitus. the chaotic fun and HARD kicks contained in this volume serves as a great representation of the hardcore rave spirit we see today: fun, loud, and uncontained! not 2 mention how high quality all these tracks are, my god @_@ it should be illegal to have so many talented people on the same release!
  2. PopsV
    by LieDeeDonk
英語が苦手な大平さん - do you understand mr 英語が苦手な大平さん - do you understand mr
the mashup here is phenomenal. i really love how it doesn't entirely lean into mashcore, instead opting to border just Slightly on it but not quite. it instead takes its own initiative by pulling inspiration from pop and hip hop, with some samples of classical music. the noises and samples used here are also delightful, never being repetitive and instead providing you a different listen for each track! it just enhances the beauty of this album, honestly. thank u LieDeeDonk 4 this kick-ass album
  3. 新しいフォルダー (4)
    by Various Artists
quite possibly one of the most hardcore albums in Lost Frog's catalog??? literally no fav track here at all <3 can't go wrong with the inclusion of GoldenEggs, after all! i seriously cannot get over how the BPM is pushed to a ridiculous limit in almost all of these tracks, accompanied by a huge barrage of amen breaks, anime samples, and erratic arrangement that always makes the progress of these tracks fairly unpredictable. it makes the listening experience very exciting!!
  4. Hell Of A Ride! [Compilation]
    by Bong-Ra
just... wow. no favorites here!! these all go hard!! i already know Bong-Ra is an incredibly talented producer, but this compilation blows me away! despite being 7 years old atp, this is some of the best breakcore and jungle i've ever heard. i love the deep bass guitars in this, masterfully chopped and fast breaks, wide range of samples, and the overall mood of this compilation. it's very moody and dark, contrasted heavily by the occasional happycore-esque sample and speedy drums.
  5. Tokyo Alert
    by TOKYO GABBA POSSE
    Street Regulator Street Regulator
this was the first (and still the only) TOKYO GABBA POSSE album that i have ever listened to, and it fucking ROCKS! something about hardcore from Japan always hits different, and oh BOY does that shine through well here. thru old school gabber that just screams Thunderdome, TOKYO GABBA POSSE delivers wicked tunes that bang on your ears with some nasty, hard kicks. i love that you never get a break from these bouncy kicks, esp when the other samples fly in to add another unique layer!
  6. SENTIMENTAL ILLNESS
    by 4lung
These Past 2 Years These Past 2 Years
hands down one of the best 4lung releases ever dropped. i absolutely love the mystical, sparkly vibe that this EP possesses. it works incredibly well with the rave elements of this EP, esp when it gets hardcore like in Drywall. not to mention that these tracks depict a raw, honest depiction of what it's like to live with mental illness that eats away at you like there's no tomorrow. These Past 2 Years is a fantastic sendoff to this major theme, ending on a positive and hopeful note. i love it!!!
  7. The Cage of Consumptive Compulsion
    by Dalmatrix
I'll Meet You There I'll Meet You There
this EP is so explorative with sound, serving as a wonderful follow up from LFTBoTDHiTW with a much more distant and vaguely negative vibe to it. the droning always switching up, glitching/deep samples, somewhat distant voices, and incredibly chopped breaks is all combine to create an incredibly rich, layered listening experience presented in complex composing that greatly represent the braindance genre. i could go on but the nurse has arrived with my sedatives and bc has a character limit.
  8. Awakening
    by 響現
    思いだして (feat.π) 思いだして (feat.π)
beautiful and calming synthesizers in Awakening. i love when the album picks up its tempo a little bit in a few tracks and throws in some kicks. it creates an absolutely gorgeous vibe that feels akin to a warm spring day or flying in the clouds. i also enjoy how the songs develop upon themselves, adding new instrumentals and samples while avoiding any average-sounding composition to make something that grows and blossoms. all the features here are the cherry on top.
  9. Shoebill / Himeko Katagiri Split
    by Shoebill / Himeko Katagiri
    Herz Herz
awesome breakcore split between 2 talented artists! as usual, Shoebill displays some amazing talent in all of their mashcore tracks with the sampling of pop music and dancefloor-ripping amen breaks. seriously, no one else does mashcore better than them. Himeko Katagiri is a nice and shape contrast from this with their more louder, abrasive work with noticeably less happy-sounding samples. Shoebill makes you love your friends and life, while Katagiri makes you want to scream and run. immaculate!
  10. Kaijuu Dual Core
    by Cat Destroyer / databeast
    Yokaicore Yokaicore
VERY good hardcore techno right here!! i have never listened to databeast until this split and my god i am surely going to keep track of their work from here on out. i love the pure amount of power exerted with the stabs and kicks here, but the way Cat Destroyer and databeast goes about it makes it clear that their music has their own unique, special identity. the remixes of each others' tracks just creates something new and beautiful that any gabber lover would enjoy <3
  11. POSCA AND THE POWER OF THE GABBER KICK
    by POSCA VON GABBA
COME AGAIN MISTA (DJ Ver.) COME AGAIN MISTA (DJ Ver.)
been a long time since POSCA VON GABBA got their own independent release! i'm so happy to see this gabber-loving pinata horse back on the center stage. the hardcore in this is fucking stellar as usual with the familiar Halley Labs stems/samples, this time throwing in some Srgt. Moon influence! i'm already a fan of both of those aforementioned artists, so it was a real joy to hear their influences in this EP. the happy hardcore influence is also incredibly delightful with the contrast it creates
  12. farewell dariacore, you WONT be missed
    by Various Artists
maybe agata is silly now fuck i gotta stop changing the title of this track burh sob maybe agata is silly now fuck i gotta stop changing the title of this track burh sob
while this album is a bet repetitive, i wont lie that i really adore the happy-go-lucky energy that is thrown into your face at point blank range from the very beginning. even with the samples of classic and new memes, it keeps up its fun energy that becomes a bit infectious at times! this got me real pumped up, so i'll give the artists that. not to mention the high speed they're all working at! that's not easy to do, so huge props (again!). so sad dariacore has died </3
  13. 新しいフォルダー (6)
    by Various Artists
    Zen Zen
the opening track for this is gorgeous. while not my favorite, it does a good job of providing you some ambience before throwing you into one hell of a hard volume. my listed favorite track, We will kick you, 黒猫「セックスとReizoko」発言, and Last Light are the highlights here! but on the album itself, i love how each artist has a different approach to techno that doesn't get tiring in the slightest with their sampling and the way they develop throughout their runtime; Zen being a good example!
  14. 深淵sampler vol.2
    by Various Artists
no favorite tracks on this one! this volume is an absolute treat. i love the hardcore in this a lot, especially anonashi's addition. but the weirder, more calm songs such as Miss Blonde by igá and the inclusion of other light tracks such as Wednesday and 安達としまむらのサントラ are just as good! real diverse selection here and im in love with it <3 always turn to Lost Frog Productions for good music! you won't ever be let down by the wonderfully talented catalog of artists they have. it shows!!
  15. puppeteer my corpse at the renegade please
    by gupi
    wheyaa wheyaa wheyaa wheyaa
a funky and weird lil' release. gupi always does odd electronic music right, which is not surprising considering their creativity. each track in this album seems to have its own idea with techno, going off in their own separate paths with the only common factor being the peculiar way in which they progress. it never gets tiring listening to this because of that. one of my favorite things about how all these tracks grow and develop into something more complex is their quick beat, too.
  16. Perfect Day
    by 99jakes and DJ 54KURA
Keep On Rowing! Keep On Rowing!
some good hard shit right here! 99jakes and DJ 54KURA come together to make one of the best techno albums that have ever blessed my ears. the distinctiveness of these 2 artists' styles is also absolutely pleasant when you take the album in as a whole; 99jakes is a happy-go-lucky hardcore masta banging drums with silly samples into ur ears, whereas DJ 54KURA is a little more old school with the assistance of wonderful mastering and eloquent breaks. one of the best 99jakes releases to date!
  17. SUPER REUNION
    by Various Artists
    Abyss_2941 Abyss_2941
god this is beautiful hardcore. i am guilty of not listening to this label very much due to my preference for other hardcore genres, but this comp has convinced me to finally put that to an end and get more into hardcore straight from Japan. i love the strained guitars, loud ass kicks that never give you a break, and the absolutely unique composition brought forward by each individual on this release. the cover does a great job of representing this album as well; something magical and maximalist
  18. ...BECAUSE I'M YOUNG ARROGANT AND HATE EVERYTHING YOU STAND FOR
    by Machine Girl
    BULLET HELL BULLET HELL
each track uses the fact that its digital hardcore in its own unique way each time, rarely sounding similar to the other despite generally being noisy and in your face. i find this to be especially helped by Machine Girl's usage of unique samples or their own voices, which i can barely understand but honestly it really adds to the charm and aesthetic of this release. i know this album is 7 years old at the time of writing this, but it still holds up incredibly well.
  19. Visual Boy Advance
by DJ Daddy Yonqui & Nagareboshi
can't choose a favorite side for this at all. DJ Daddy Yonqui brings an array of beautiful drums to the table and is always surprising you with switching from a fast-moving hardcore rhythm to a calm dnb atmosphere, with neat samples that make the experience more unique. Nagareboshi is a wonderful contrast from that side with the gorgeous chiptune that makes you feel as if you are supposed to be longing for something, or makes you realize you have been the entire time.
  20. 悪魔の悪夢 THE MUSIC AND SOUND
    by msx
    BOSS_2 * ilais ssui'an issr ~ YOUR DREAM HURTS BOSS_2 * ilais ssui'an issr ~ YOUR DREAM HURTS
killer soundtrack. this honestly made me love tracker music way more with how nostalgic it felt. it instantly pulled me in with the colorful logo music, which immediately got followed up by some absolutely gorgeous music that made me think of the N64. the way emma did not restrict themselves whatsoever and went between jungle and breakbeat while retaining a chiptune-like sound the entire time is fucking stellar. this is one of the most unique sounding electronic releases ever and i love it
