Dance of the Red Flower Dance of the Red Flower
It’s safe to say that no one in indie music has the songwriting range of Ames Harding. You can’t hear this kind of music happening anywhere else right now. Maybe you can find a few artists with Latin and world influences, but can they write a New Orleans jazz song with a catchy hook? How about a western waltz? You’d be hard pressed. He also has help from his all-star band who fill these songs with so much life. This is a band to follow very, very closely.

  8. In Person
    by White Denim
    SLYME SLYME
White Denim achieved a golden era of live performance between mid-2018 and early-2020. Their shows were so electric, so driven, so high-energy that the city electric providers were shilling out bucho dolores to the band for adding so much back to the grid. People may not believe what this band was able to achieve musically and performatively during this time, but we'll always have proof with "In Person."

  11. Performance
    by White Denim
    Good News Good News
Performance is a PERFECT, 10/10 album, and my favorite of all time. It is so sonically dense and cohesive, perfectly produced, so catchy, and so fun. Many White Denim fans assumed the band was sunk after Josh Block and Austin Jenkins left, but this album truly introduced the golden age of the band, and you just won't find any better rock & roll being made today.
  12. Constant Bop
    by Bop English
Willy Spends An Evening Willy Spends An Evening
One of the most fun and diverse albums I have ever heard. There are so many different ideas and sounds, yet the album is so consistent - not a skippable track on here. James Petralli is a true artist, and he shows it. Great musicianship, great storytelling, great lyrics - doesn’t get much better than this folks!

  15. Sauce Piquante
    by Theo Lawrence
    Petit Coeur Petit Coeur
This is the album that got me into country music. Theo is putting on the perfect show of throwback Texas/Louisiana country, but he's not a novelty act. His storytelling and musicianship are first class, and he knows how to write a hook.
  16. At the Aloha Lounge
    by Loose Lemons
Time to Go Time to Go
One of best albums of 2020, and it's criminal how underheard it is. Incredibly creative and unique, Trevor seems to be saying that it's hard not to be jaded with the way the world holds us down, but he answers with a mighty shrug of hope or indifference - it can be hard to tell which it is at the end of your rope. An outstanding set of last-call-songs.
  17. World As A Waiting Room
    by White Denim
    Go Numb Go Numb
WAAWR is endlessly fun and catchy. Right off the bat I Don’t Understand Rock and Roll will be rolling around in your head. It’s a little unlike the rest of the band’s catalogue production-wise because the time crunch, but it shows the musicianship...but right as you’re riding the high of the album, they end with King Prospero - a melancholy and nostalgic tune about better days. It packs much more of an emotional punch given the strife the band has gone through after releasing this album.
  18. Common Prayers
    by Walter Martin
My Heart Has Lost Its Mind My Heart Has Lost Its Mind
Walter put out a perfect masterpiece in 2020 with The World at Night and followed up with this album as almost a throwaway. But don't be fooled, this is nearly an equal combination of heartbreaking, fun, and love filled songs as TWAN, and this album truly stands on its own.
