In my opinion Adrian's "Celtic" compositions constitute his crowning achievement. Invoking a profound sense of forlornness even as they soar to summon fever-pitch joy, they are infused with an irrepressible warrior spirit and seem right at home to listen to while staring in bittersweet admiration at one of Angus McBride's illustrations of the ancient Celts that at the height of their martial prowess used to dominate early Iron Age Europe as the true warrior aristocrats of their time.
