  1. Omnivortex of Hex Knives
    by SVRGEONS
Frenetic mind melting grind breaks, desolate yet lush soundscapes spliced against harsh noise walls and occult themed hyper-violent technical death metal, FFO: The Holy Vehm, Portal, Knoll, Anaal Nathrakh et al.
  2. Huxwhukw
    by Serious Beak
Tuī / Tuō Tuī / Tuō
This album was my favourite release of 2016. I don't really know what else to say other than if you don't just 'get' the top echelon rhythms of 'Tui/Tuo' (from 1:58 until the song crescendos violently and ceases) - you do not understand music or what makes it good. 'HUXWHUKW' is a perfectly structured odyssey that shifts gears between utterly nauseating Dillinger-esque break neck hyperbeats to some of the most lush and sparse acoustic soundscapes I've heard in the past 10 years.
  3. Current Value - Revealing The Concealed EP
    by Future Sickness Records
Current Value - Running Current Value - Running
Every track on this EP is just no bullshit, crushing breakbeat mayhem. Current Value (along side a select few other artists like Broken Note, Noisia etc) is leading the way this stunningly complex and often under appreciated sub genre. Simply superb.
  4. NOISEM Blossoming Decay
    by A389-162
Cascade Of Scars Cascade Of Scars
Bare bones thrash/grind straight out of the gate.

Cascading Scars' is utterly brilliant and the overall production value of this record is phenomenal.
  5. Sulaco Build and Burn
    by Sulaco
On the Fence On the Fence
Sulaco share their name with the ship from my all time favourite Sci-Fi Horror romp 'Aliens' and their music is just as impressive. Rochester, NY is home to some amazing bands - Sulaco is one you need to be aware of.
  6. Tripper
    by Hella
Kid Life Crisis Kid Life Crisis
Hella - What can you possibly say about this band? Like throwing Primus, Dillinger Escape Plan and Behold... The Arctopus into a blender and pouring the resulting black syrup directly into your brain - 'Tripper' is my jam.

Second only to their superb 'There's no 666 In Outer Space'.
