  1. Welcome Joy and Welcome Sorrow
    by Spiro
    Burning Bridge Burning Bridge
main "why I love" note is on "Pole Star"
  2. My Garden State
    by Glenn Jones
Going Back to East Montgomery Going Back to East Montgomery
A witness of lived lives, over there on the other side of the Atlantic.

(I first found out about Glenn Jones from getting "Of its own kind" from "The wanting" recommended to me by Spotify.)
  3. BEYOND
    by Talisk
I first found Talisk via Spotify's discover weekly.
  4. Call For Winter
    by Daniel Herskedal
I discovered this music once upon a time through Spotify's recommender services, probably because I like some other artists in the unique local jazz styles of my part of Norway. Chill music in the best way.
  5. Third
    by Nathan Salsburg
    Impossible Air Impossible Air
I first encountered Nathan Salsburg with "Ambsace", the album he did with UK guitarist James Elkington, and which happened to get recommended to me on DW after I had discovered American Primitive (also via DW). This is the first solo album of his which really clicked with me.
  6. Lightbox
    by Spiro
The White Hart The White Hart
main "why I love" note is on "Pole Star"
  7. The Giant Who Ate Himself and Other New Works For 6 & 12 String Guitar
    by Glenn Jones
The Last Passenger Pigeon The Last Passenger Pigeon
Glenn Jones was my introduction to American Primitive guitar, many years ago, when "Of its own kind" was recommended to me on DW. This was the first album that came out after me becoming really aware of his existence - and the first I had the chance to really anticipate. It didn't disappoint!
  8. You Will Never Die!
by Yom & the Wonder Rabbis
I first found Yom through Spotify's Discover Weekly years ago. How they knew I loved gritty klezmer clarinet, I don't know, but I do.
  9. Om Mikaelidagen
    by Kongero
Om morgonen helt bittida-Dis Om morgonen helt bittida-Dis
(The main "Why I love" note on Kongero I put on "3an")
For lyrics, highlights of the debut album is "Om Mikaelidagen", which is pretty much an emigrant's break-up song with his country.

I also really, really like the smiling overtones Lotta does on "Kongero".
  10. Pole Star
    by Spiro
The Sky is a Blue Bowl The Sky is a Blue Bowl
I first came across Spiro many years ago when "The Sky is a Blue Bowl" (a live version from some BBC compilation) was recommended to me on Discover Weekly. I thought it interesting enough to save. Then one day I thought I'd look into some of those weird band with really interesting, odd tracks, and found the rest of Spiro's work.
Weird to think they've existed for so many years, and persisted for so many years with little recognition, when it's so fantastically good.
  11. Kaleidophonica
    by Spiro
When Wars Alarmes When Wars Alarmes
main "why I love" note is on "Pole Star". Note, tracks on this album are mislabeled. The favorite track, which is actually called When Wars Alarmes, is mislabeled as "We Will Be Absorbed" here.
Bandcamp/Real World Records, get your act together!
  12. Repeater
    by Spiro
    The Vapourer The Vapourer
main "why I love" note is on "Pole Star".

When I think about it, I'm pretty sure "The Darkling Plains" from this album was also recommended to me on DW, and this prompted me to take a look on the band itself.
  13. Chris Pottle - PO-20 Arcade (Full Album)
    by theycallmejpj
I found this artist via their Youtube page, looking for music written for the PO micro synths. It was better than I dared to hope for.
  14. ABYSS
    by Talisk
    Echo Echo
Superenergetic Scottish Folk, with especially wild concertina. Impossible not to like.

I first found out about Talisk from "Echo" on Spotify's Discover Weekly.
  15. Music For A French Elevator And Other Oddities
    by The Books
    Classy Penguin Classy Penguin
I was recommended this album by Spotify's discover weekly, probably because of my love for Penguin Cafe Orchestra (which I also found by DW). "Classy Penguin" seems to me like a funny tribute to Simon Jeffes, a classy penguin if there ever was one.
  16. Dig It to the End
    by Tonbruket
I found Tonbruket via DW. Maybe it got recommended because I had listened to some older Swedish Jazz. But I like this too.
  17. no. 3
    by Kongero
I denna ljuva sommartid I denna ljuva sommartid
I have loved women's folk a cappella after I went to a concert with a local group called Smyr, ca. 1999. They only ever published two albums though, and maybe do a concert every second year. I looked forever for anything like it. Didn't find it until DW recommended two Northern Swedish a cappella groups to me a few years - Kongero was one (can you guess the other?)
  18. Chris Pottle - PO-14 Sub (Full Album)
    by theycallmejpj
I found this artist via their Youtube page, looking for music written for the PO micro synths. It was better than I dared to hope for.
  19. Leonov
    by Leonov
I discovered this music through friends in an Oslo congregation. Solid post-rock with a special significance for me.
  20. Mira
    by Naragonia
I used to not like accordions very much. Then I concluded, one is OK, if it's played well.

Now I'm forced to conclude, two can be nice as well.

This may be one of the few albums I found via Deezer's discovery tools, for the year I tried that out. But maybe my mind is playing tricks on me. It could be Spotify's DW again.
