    Sunrise, Sunset Sunrise, Sunset
Endless repetition, with loping guitar lines that step over the beats like arches. Also great live.
  8. Jump To Your Bed
    by Cave Bears
  9. Condition
    by Spectres
    Neck Neck
Noise outs for the noise out connoisseur: bleak bursts of overdriven guitar that repeat in punishing, trance-like cycles. Some sounds on this record remind me of electrical faults in old technology, or of salvaged dictaphone recordings from a band practice where everything was turned up too loud.
  10. Machine Girl - WLFGRL
    by DREDCOL.
Machine Girl - Ghost Machine Girl - Ghost
"Do you like those ker-azy Japanese movies? Then you'll love Machine Girl" goes the quote in one this album's many samples... A dizzying array of retro FX, horror film excerpts and fast, bubbling break beats that hammer you into a gabba-whipped, siren-dizzy pulp.
  11. Blank Banshee 0
    by Blank Banshee
    Bathsalts Bathsalts
A no frills, cover-mounted freeware cut-and-shut editing job on the Windows 95-era sound pallette. At points sounds like a John Hughes film, then an Atoms For Peace track, then a SoundBlaster 16 error chime.
  12. Innermost Shrine, Heavily Gilded
    by Foie Gras
  13. Live at X Avant X
    by Pantayo
    1 1
A delicate clattering together of Philippine percussive instruments, in an immaculate live recording. It sounds like all the wind chimes you've ever heard in your life playing at once, creating constantly evolving, windy and deceptively simple harmonies.
  14. The Kraken Quartet - Audiotree Live
    by The Kraken Quartet
  15. Switched ON: A Link to the Past
    by Switched On
    Sanctuary Sanctuary
Some of the most bewitching, luscious synth pieces ever; combining the compositional genius of Koji Kondo, and Will Patterson's ability to interpret the original pieces using an array of gorgeous, understated synthesis tones.
  16. Thorough Bass and Human Nature (Burnt Ogre demos)
    by grilly
Jealous Shepherd (demo/stu stone interpretation) Jealous Shepherd (demo/stu stone interpretation)
A tantalising flick through a scrapbook of ideas that points the way toward another of Grilly's wide-ranging solo sonic odysseys. Bases covered include metal, sampling, glitch and psych folk. I can't wait to hear the finished album!
  17. Return to the Fulfillment Centre: Remixes, 2012-2013
    by dj gallowslutt
Cino: Your Stomach's Good Bacteria Cino: Your Stomach's Good Bacteria
Grilly once said to me that his remix approach was to "make the songs sound like the exact opposite of the originals". He could easily have added "and better than the originals" too.

  18. Klavikon
    by Klavikon
    Dust Dust
This sounds like the techno of the future I have always craved, despite being played on a piano. Both genius in terms of concept, and its realisation.
  19. Education/Recovery
    by Stuart Stone
    Restlessness Restlessness
I once played 'Restlessness' 45 times in a row, only turning down the volume of my computer speakers to either sleep or leave the house for chocolate, before raising the volume once more to bask in the rich, glitchy and satisfyingly organic beats.

    by Alder Deep
Cavalcade of the Unclean Cavalcade of the Unclean
Gothic darkness, via the soundchip from Castlevania for the SNES.
