    by Red Mesa
The Devil's Coming Round The Devil's Coming Round
I dig the bluesy riffs and the husky vocals. Reminds me of the golden age of classic rock, evoking the likes of Aerosmith, Guns n Roses, The Doors, and Led Zeppelin. The lyrics are vivid depictions of the surreal New Mexican landscape. This album just gets heavier and harder as it goes on!
  19. Dealing With Demons I
    by DevilDriver
    Wishing Wishing
This album has some of the most immersive storytelling I’ve ever seen from DevilDriver. It comes off as a concept album, centered around the theme of literal and metaphorical demons to be battled.
This music is so powerful, yet so sensitive. The riffs are beefy and badass, but the lyrics are pensive and thoughtful. Emotive and introspective, this album is a testament as to why DevilDriver is one of my favorite metal bands of all time.
  20. PYRES
    by The Blackout Pictures
    Cimmerian Shade Cimmerian Shade
I like mathrock, prog, and technical music in general, so I freaking love The Blackout Pictures. They sound like Dillinger Escape Plan fronted by a rad, rockin’ riot grrrl. But the guitars also seem heavily influenced by classical music and progressive rock. The riffs are technical and ornate, evoking the likes of Mozart’s Rondo Alla Turca, aka Piano Sonata #11. The multilayered compositions are a real treat to listen to. And yet, there is an edge of raw energy and emotional complexity.
