    Wolf Wolf
One of the best albums I listened to this year. These beautiful, lush arrangements are dripping with emotion; songs that make my heart ache. I can't get enough of this album.
  4. 胡蝶の夢、十の夜

    西方見聞録 西方見聞録
Everything about this record is incredibly unique, especially for jazz records. From the group's curious instrumentation to the album's encapsulating dynamic range, this calming collection of tunes is refreshing for any listener.

  6. Summer Twin
    by Boom Said Thunder
    Carnivore Carnivore
These two tracks have an immense power. When the drums explode in "Carnivore", I feel like I'm being thrown across the room. Summer Twin perfectly captures this group's bombastic sound.

  8. Risk of Rain
    by Chris Christodoulou
    Dew Point Dew Point
I could easily ramble on how Risk of Rain is possibly my favorite game. I love the distinct characters and the beautiful designs of the environments, but the quality that affects the haunting atmosphere most of all is the music. In each new world, you encounter new types of enemies as the ambient ramblings you heard on the previous level may have now evolved into a crashing rock groove or the constant hum of a keyboard. After hundreds of hours, this music is always fresh and just as powerful.
  9. From the Bird's Cage

    Futurist Futurist
Overflowing with emotion, and at many points, haunting, this record is beyond words. An instant favorite of mine.

I turn off the lights, lay down in bed, put on headphones, and listen to this record. This collection of songs is a journey not like many else; truly a unique, transformative experience.
  11. Burial Grounds
    by Rin Tin Tiger
Shards of Glass Shards of Glass
Rin Tin Tiger's truly characteristic blend of rock and distorted blues works its magic again on this killer record. Shards of Glass and Crooked Kid are two of my personal favorites.
RIP Rin Tin Tiger, I will always love you <3

Sector 4 (MF) Sector 4 (MF)
Varia Suite is a fantastic album, but I am ecstatic that Metroid Metal included some Fusion tunes in their latest effort. Metroid Fusion was my favorite game of the series, and Sector 1 and Sector 4 both had groovy, memorable tunes. Fantastic as always, wouldn't expect any different.

    Kraid (NES) Kraid (NES)
I had the idea that there should be a metal band that exclusively covers Metroid music. Initially, I was disappointed when I found it already existed, but the masterful caliber of Metroid Metal's music is nigh unmatched and I am very happy that this album exists. Kraid's Theme and the Boss Battle Medley are two favorites, but I love the Super Metroid intro; it really sets the stage for how great this group is, and what the album has in store.
