  2. Acoustics EP 2

    Tender Tender
Albums don't really have sequels? That was something I thought about while waiting for this album to release, but upon listening it's clear that Yvette's two Acoustic EPs are a complete journey. Together, the two works take you to a (possibly familiar) dark and painful place, only to then help you heal and guide you somewhere safer. I didn't think the first Acoustic EP could get any better <3

Overflowing with emotion, and at many points, haunting, this record is beyond words. An instant favorite of mine.

    Wolf Wolf
One of the best albums I listened to this year. These beautiful, lush arrangements are dripping with emotion; songs that make my heart ache. I can't get enough of this album.

I turn off the lights, lay down in bed, put on headphones, and listen to this record. This collection of songs is a journey not like many else; truly a unique, transformative experience.
  9. Summer Twin
    by Boom Said Thunder
    00:00/00:00
    Carnivore Carnivore
These two tracks have an immense power. When the drums explode in "Carnivore", I feel like I'm being thrown across the room. Summer Twin perfectly captures this group's bombastic sound.

    西方見聞録 西方見聞録
Everything about this record is incredibly unique, especially for jazz records. From the group's curious instrumentation to the album's encapsulating dynamic range, this calming collection of tunes is refreshing for any listener.
  11. Risk of Rain
    by Chris Christodoulou
    00:00/00:00
    Dew Point Dew Point
I could easily ramble on how Risk of Rain is possibly my favorite game. I love the distinct characters and the beautiful designs of the environments, but the quality that affects the haunting atmosphere most of all is the music. In each new world, you encounter new types of enemies as the ambient ramblings you heard on the previous level may have now evolved into a crashing rock groove or the constant hum of a keyboard. After hundreds of hours, this music is always fresh and just as powerful.

    00:00/00:00
Lord Have Mercy Lord Have Mercy
Picture Atlantic's new sound is absolutely mesmerizing... a powerful album full of incredible tunes; I have to listen about 100 more times before I'm really ready to talk about this... <3
  13. Fantasy Empire
    by Lightning Bolt
    00:00/00:00
Snow White (& The 7 Dwarves Fans) Snow White (& The 7 Dwarves Fans)
Unrelenting energy and raw musical power; Lightning Bolt is back at it again with their latest release, full of solid soundscapes like Horsepower, The Metal East, and Dream Genie. I'd recommend this record to anyone looking to expand their musical horizons by seeing the mind-blowing artistry in the arrangement of these bombastic noises.
  14. Burial Grounds
    by Rin Tin Tiger
    00:00/00:00
Shards of Glass Shards of Glass
Rin Tin Tiger's truly characteristic blend of rock and distorted blues works its magic again on this killer record. Shards of Glass and Crooked Kid are two of my personal favorites. I can't wait for what Rin Tin Tiger is going to do next!
  15. Other Album
    by Metroid Metal
    00:00/00:00
Sector 4 (MF) Sector 4 (MF)
Varia Suite is a fantastic album, but I am ecstatic that Metroid Metal included some Fusion tunes in their latest effort. Metroid Fusion was my favorite game of the series, and Sector 1 and Sector 4 both had groovy, memorable tunes. Fantastic as always, wouldn't expect any different.

    Kraid (NES) Kraid (NES)
I had the idea that there should be a metal band that exclusively covers Metroid music. Initially, I was disappointed when I found it already existed, but the masterful caliber of Metroid Metal's music is nigh unmatched and I am very happy that this album exists. Kraid's Theme and the Boss Battle Medley are two favorites, but I love the Metroid Prime intro; it really sets the stage for how great this group is, and what the album has in store.
  18. Risk of Rain: Engineer Edition
    by Chris Christodoulou
    00:00/00:00
    03_Dew_Point_Synths_120 03_Dew_Point_Synths_120
I feel truly blessed that Chris Christodoulou released these isolated tracks. It's rather easy to get lost in the huge soundscape of the Risk of Rain music, so it's really something else to hear where all of these sounds came from and how they come together.
  19. Shovel Knight Original Soundtrack
    by Jake Kaufman
    00:00/00:00
A Cool Reception (The Stranded Ship) A Cool Reception (The Stranded Ship)
Everything about this game is a genius new take on the style of classic platformers like Metroid and Mega Man. Catchy music and memorable themes are an integral part of that formula, and Shovel Knight pulls it off flawlessly.
