Mecca:83 inspires me to make want to create beautiful music someday too... the effortless space-jazz vibe to his production styles compliments their unwavering hiphop backbone spectacularly. This beat tape showed me so much about pacing and progression and ambience in a world I was new to around the time of it's release and my introduction to beats on a whole! I really love this beat tape!
Sporradik (formerly known as Apriori) blends masterfully a uniquely tribal and organic feeling take on drum and bass. Hypnotic rhythms and deep soundscapes make for a relaxing but heady journey through sound. At times, listening to track like Synapse I'm reminded strongly of artists like Mount Kimbie, yet Sporradik adds his own dnb tribal twist to a noise/idm neurofunk style I'm not sure how best to describe : )
This beat tape is straight fire. Found this via a homie's tribute video for a track off this tape, found at youtu.be/Fk5L3Xf76Zo if you're interested. This tape really hits the feel good button somewhere deep in my brain : )
CHIEF et al demonstrate with ease a blend of deep and dark undertones, crisp-not-crunchy highs, and a smooth chop style. This record spins a succulent web of word, soundscape and auditory-imagery into a clear juxtaposition of themes of the good, the bad and the tasty!
