  4. The Other Side of This
    by Maia Marsh
A really warm, gripping song. It hangs in the air, highlighting the singers lovely voice.
  5. Glass Harp
    by Glass Harp
A proper 70s brew. Incredible, intelligent musicianship. Totally wild, mercurial at times, then gentle and introspective. Phil Keaggy's brilliant guitar playing burns brightly in this tight & loose trio.

Just magic. Vini Reilly was a brilliant musician and a true artist. I was so surprised to hear some of these pieces on "The Bear" series recently, so I guess his popularity is growing. Like the late Mark Hollis, it's a shame that the greater appreciation of his work is of no further use to him, personally.
  9. Wrong Way Up [Expanded Edition]
by Brian Eno & John Cale
Been There Done That Been There Done That
A fantastic early 90s album. This is what the decade could have been remembered for along with other standout records like 'Acadie' (1989) or the Teenage Fanclub albums, instead of grunge or 90s "alternative" (not knocking Nirvana, etc). Unfathomably, the record failed to make an impact. Rated A+.

  13. When the Fabric’s Torn
    by White Cross
An obscure Australian "underground" band from the late 80s. A raw, unpolished, lo-fi gem. Unfortunately we lose the cool cover of 'Michael row the Boat ashore' but this is still a gift.

Listen and get hooked, from the intro to the end.

Mike Scott is capable of the sublime when occasionally his compositions and lyrics bleed into each other to create something moving and near profound.

The Stolen Child, on Fisherman's Blues springs to mind, albeit taken from WB Yeats Faerie Queen and with an incredible narrator.
  17. I care for you
    by Burka Band
    No Burka! No Burka!
These brave, independent women created biting satire, highlighting institutionalized suppression of women by the regime through religious strictures and fake morality. I hope they are all safe and well as they ran serious risks in choosing to speak out through their music.

People need to be free to believe or not believe.

Sugar for the Pill Sugar for the Pill
This is really good and I think, up there with 'Souvlaki', my favorite in the "shoegaze" genre.
  19. Circuses and Bread
    by The Durutti Column
Excellent Durutti Column. Approach this as an instrumental album. To me, it's more compelling as a whole than LC.
  20. White Flag
    by Daniel Romano
    White Flag White Flag
It has the feel of a classic album. The title track lingers on after the music has stopped
