  1. Endless Summer
    by The Midnight
    00:00/00:00
    Vampires Vampires
[ saxophone riff ] An incredible, self-aware nostalgia jolt and a fantastic blend of neon-spattered '80s and early '90s retrowave. The sax is absolutely killer, and married to vintage synthesizer, chippy lead patches like gooey warm brownies, and an incredible vocal performance from Nikki Flores on "Jason," adds up to a possible new classic. The Midnight's goal of evoking the bittersweet notes of 'mono no aware' is massively successful here in Endless Summer.

    by The Surrealist
    00:00/00:00
    Lux Lux
Fractal rain on kaleidoscopic tin? The sound photons make when chilled? Employing guitar ninja taps and prettily abstruse melodic lines, The Surrealist evoke a muzzled Animals As Leaders vibe–or perhaps their polite atom smashing is a soft, bioorganic cousin of metal supergroup Alkaloid’s mindbending experiment in sound-stitching “C-Value Enigma,” with its inhumanly circuitous runs up the fretboard/piano roll.

    Noor Noor
A delicious and cerebral blend of IDM-esque bleep and electric guitar, showcasing zabutom's matured, more unhurried composition style. It's not Zeta Force or any of numerous high-energy, classic cracktro collabs with Dubmood, but the jazz-infused '90s demoscene vibe to the whole affair tickles the brain in a different but equally pleasing way.
  12. Girl's Love 少女愛
    by GHOST DATA
    00:00/00:00
    Silk Lingerie Silk Lingerie
The liquidy synths and warped vocal(oid)izing conjure up a floaty, dreamlike state evocative of the title--like the soundtrack to a young romance. Exciting and breathless and tinged with the otherworldly.
  13. Yet Further
    by Sioum
    00:00/00:00
    Unknown Unknown
Melding "broad and unusual" influences like classical and chiptune into a cocktail of staircase-ascending post-rock guitar tremolo, pleasantly repetitive riffing, ambient swells, and on the more energizing tracks here, an ear-catching, gutsy, chip-splatty, synth bassfuzz, Yet Further is a cut above the typical post-rock album.

    by Zalza
    00:00/00:00
Waves Of Energy Waves Of Energy
Brimming with slightly somber energy and old school chip goodness, all of Superposition sounds gorgeous pouring out of speakers or cans: smooth leads, fat bass, superglue melodies. It's difficult to imagine wanting more from a chiptune album.

    Listen Listen
she never fails to deliver lustrous, machine welded future-chip tuneage that absolutely kicks ass on a good pair of headphones.

With one foot in the trackerscene past and the other holding dubstep's head under the water, these 3 songs put all the oldskool she signature moves up on display--corpulent basslines, angels on vocoder, dizzying volume swells--and add a couple new lab tested tricks, most notably the breathtaking "Archetype" style tempo warps. Can't wait for the full album!

    God Agog God Agog
Everyone's musical palate needs some roughage now and then - Achenar is a mad alchemist of (Re)noise who ventures afar into the wilderness to hunt and capture natural sounds... and then rip out their guts, and twist, warp, and butcher their octaves into unholy digital evil.

Essential listening for psychopathic torturers from other Ages.

At its best, syphus' debut delivers mountainous twists'n'turns of melody experienced with a brick on the accelerator. Even the slower tracks are animated with an underlying urgency that hooks the ear.

    Shore Thing Shore Thing
Vintage '80s style synth music that recalls palm trees, future cars, and gun battles set to VHS tape warble. Should be extremely pleasing to rabid fans of Jan Hammer's Miami Vice "Crockett's Theme" and the music of Airwolf.
  43. Disaffected Suite
    by Rhythm In Mind
    00:00/00:00
Death To Inspiration Death To Inspiration
Delightful Nebula wankery that fills the monitors. Ghostly threads, burps of bass, swallowed emergency sirens, and pummeling percussion. Like GYBE being slowly ground up and digested by a jazz metal band.

Staggeringly lush, warm, organic sludge achieved entirely by some guy living in an apartment a few miles down the road from me. Welcome to the future.

    by 2player
    00:00/00:00
Snow Flurry Fury Snow Flurry Fury
A noble entry in the "fake video game soundtrack concept album" genre. Populated with well-mixed Gameboy grooves that drip imagined nostalgia through a good pair of headphones. Unskippable, sick bass riffs.
