The sound of remembering something once lost, something forgotten long ago. flashygoodness preys on such feelings, gently and masterfully evoking memories of childhood and freedom. One Curious Nightfall is short but gorgeous. Shimmering pads, humming basslines, and lush strings color the soundtrack. And the event is sincerely unforgettable, on account of the melodies.

Vengeance (The Return Of The Night Driving Avenger) [Bonus Track] Vengeance (The Return Of The Night Driving Avenger) [Bonus Track]
Dark, bestial, moving. The whole EP feels modern, yet at the same time conjures up images of 80s slasher films. But really, Nocturne City is pensive. I would decidedly choose this word as the most fitting to capture the mood of the EP. Though it throbs ('Welcome to Nocturne City'), cuts ('Vengence'), stretches longingly ('Fantasy'), and struts ('Night Business'), Nocturne City is confident in its affections. It is emotive, but mostly reflective; it is muscular, but mostly sensitive.

As far as Perturbator releases go, Night Driving Avenger is not as aggressive as other releases. There are a number of mid-tempo tracks to color in Kent's ideas. But the atmosphere is strong and established.

    Paradise Warfare Paradise Warfare
It was very difficult to pick a favorite track, given the nature of this EP. It is at once comprised of very distinctive tracks that stand on their own, but also it possesses a quality that transcends each track here. The raw and tearing quality on display (read: every track) is powerful and quite indelible. And how does Brut do it; establishing an atmosphere that is so cool and confident (read: 'Paradise Warfare') which turns, at the drop of a hat, into a chaotic and powerful tour de force. I am continually drawn to Brut's unique style. This EP is worth your time.

Nice little EP with a lot to give, but the standout track here is the last one, 'Virtual Sunset' (which features lyrics and a gorgeous melody by VIRTU). It is with this concluding track that I am drawn back to the EP for another listen, situating myself in a loop with no end in sight.
