  1. The Humming Tapes
    by Cities Last Broadcast
    Kathédra Kathédra
Music that literally haunts you. Damaged tape loops crying at you with detuned, grungy, eerie voices. Aural entities of their own. Ghosts on magnetic tape, singing over and over again.

This album is one of my absolute favourites of all time. I never tire of listening to it.
  2. The Umbra Report
    by Cities Last Broadcast
Wherever the Heart Goes Wherever the Heart Goes
Once again, Pär Boström makes his tapes come alive to make them sing for us. An eerie, enigmatic journey, heavier and more menacing than all previous ones.
  3. Cities Last Broadcast - Mirrorlike
    by Various Artists
The feeling of something behind a veil, right next to you. They don't speak a language you could comprehend - All you can sense is this vague longing for communication.
  4. Cities Last Broadcast - Voiced
    by This Is Darkness
The old piano comes to life, hesitantly playing fragments of a once well-known melody. The tape recorder awakes, murmuring phrases in its worn-out voice. And the walls gently rock back and forth, breathing, listening, dreaming.
  5. Cities Last Broadcast - Unbidden
    by This Is Darkness
It's not as if they were hostile; they merely want to communicate. But their incessant attempts are beginning to wear you out. They never stop. They never sleep. They are like terrifying children, lurking just behind the thin veil between being and non-being.
No matter how hard you try, you cannot get used to them.
  6. Static

  7. Cities Last Broadcast - Each Night
    by Cryo Chamber
  8. In the Dead of Night feat. Cities Last Broadcast
    by Fractalyst
  9. Last Melody
by Phonothek & Cities Last Broadcast
  10. Miles to Midnight
by Atrium Carceri, Cities Last Broadcast, God Body Disconnect
Sorry Sir, You Are In The Wrong Room Sorry Sir, You Are In The Wrong Room
Brilliant storytelling by both sound design and track titles, never letting the story become too concrete while at the same time creating an eerie, dense, kafkaesque atmosphere.
A slightly different journey with each listen.
  11. Black Corner Den
by Atrium Carceri & Cities Last Broadcast
A Deeper Dream A Deeper Dream
    Aural opium.
  12. Black Stage of Night
by Atrium Carceri & Cities Last Broadcast
The Great Order of Things The Great Order of Things
Even better than the first release of the Black series due to the mystic, spiritual quality that has been added.
  13. Thronal
    by KAMMARHEIT
Now Golden, Now Dark Now Golden, Now Dark
This one has a heavy and gargantuan feeling to it, heavier than all previous Kammarheit releases. Each track like a massive block of iron and stone.
  14. Arch
    by Kammarheit
Heard this live the one single time it was performed: At a concert in a church. Glad to have it here so I can return to the memory every now and then.
  15. Kammarheit - Caron, occhi di bragia
    by Various Artists
  16. Echo
    by Apocryphos, Kammarheit, Atrium Carceri
All Dreams Mined All Dreams Mined
This one evokes an intense "The Road"-ish feeling. Great if you want a (post-)apocalyptic atmosphere.
  17. Colossus
    by Atrium Carceri & Kammarheit
    Vaults Vaults
An exploration of different aspects of massiveness and the deep: Sometimes pounding and menacing, at other times vast and awe-inspiring; the trope of sleep always lingering in the background.
  18. Apparatus
    by Atrium Carceri & Kammarheit
    Mechanism Mechanism
Needs several listens to get used to; this album has its quirks. Some tracks are irritatingly short.
But eventually, after a few listens, the depth shines through.
  19. Kammarheit - Citadel
    by This Is Darkness
