I came across this band looking for new melodic death metal, and Iomair has traces of it amongst many other surprising influences in their sound. On top of melodeath, I hear traces of progressive death metal, prog rock and prog metal, traces of pirate metal, folk metal, jazz, electronica, and even bluegrass on a couple of tracks weirdly enough. The fact that this band also nails all those elements as well on 36 minute album is just astounding. Definitely my album of the year for me personally.
