Wind's Poem is already my favorite Mount Eerie project but I didn't expect these renditions to be as emotionally stirring as they turned out to be. I cried listening to the album version of Mouth of Sky the night my dog died and after discovering this a few weeks afterwards I was almost brought to tears AGAIN. Those strings.........soul-crushing. As well as Phil's calm vocal delivery. I'd kill to see this live.
Along with In the Aeroplane Over the Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel and Wind's Poem by Mount Eerie, this album is one of the 3 pieces of music to ever make me cry or at least get me pretty close to it. I love everything about this album/band. Forward-thinking in every respect. As a bonus, I adore the main guitar player's style and tone(s). An all-time favorite.
This is some great melodic hardcore/screamo! If you're a fan of dramatic, grandiose-sounding screamo bands(i.e. Envy, Pianos Become the Teeth) but are also open to really well-performed clean vocals as well then check this shit out. Shame this is all they'll do.
