My favourite Dots live show. Barry Gray RIP is a champ here. So far as I know, there is no other version of the iconic "They Don't Horses, Shoot They?" on record - was it improvised? Would love to learn more about it...
Modest and understated, yet unmistakably Phantom. Sounds like it was written and recorded on a single day, in the best way. Wears very well, I've clocked several thousand hours of listening and singalong. (Admittedly that's a bit extreme, but hey it's an eminently agreeable, cohesive album, and I usually sleep with it looping.) Taken with the banger singles between releases, all we could desire. Track ranking: 6 4 10 7 3 1 2 9 8 5. Next time around, maybe something more experimental?
