Crystalizing in Time Crystalizing in Time
I love the brass and woodwind instruments in these songs. They stitch a warm golden seam of solid air beneath through and between the voices… with subtlety and rich harmony. Love it.

    Foosteps Foosteps
I’ve been playing this beautiful album (the vinyl even looks beautiful) a lot since it’s release… and unusually, for me,I haven’t tired of it. Rachael Dadd has created something truly exceptional here I think..both warm autumnal scarf and high fidelity treasure…every song evokes something different.. but there is a stream of joy and playfulness which permeates this record. Having had the privilege of seeing the songs played live confirmed that something rather special went into this recording.

An hourglass, in an ideal world, needs a musical accompaniment to carry out its vital work…and this be it.

Hawkwind? The Moodists? Cult? Transport me to a 35 year old finest malt… actually it’s a blend… a particularly pleasant blend indeed…. thank you very much Pictish Trail. Come back to Stroud!
  16. From Under Old Moons

Low Hangs the Moon Low Hangs the Moon
Sometimes there appears inside the ears a song so perfectly formed that the immediate response is to savour as a precious treat…. while caution ensues… to ration the listening to just one or two. Handle with white rare-book gloves.. to preserve that initial joy. The richness of the voice, the beauty of the lyrics and music is simply ethereal. Low Hangs the Moon… I am weightless as the dust that surrounds the stars for a few fleeting moments.

Claude Debussy said something famous about music being the spaces between notes - Rhythm Piece is a lovely example of this - somehow the playful gaps at the start kind of engage a point of enquiry or intrigue which is unusual I think - and the reward for slowing everything down to a stilted wait is well worth the journey. I find Song of Sadness ....exactly that.. perfectly musically put. A welcome addition to my small Bandcamp menu.
  20. Only Magic
    by Tom Sanders
I’ve just dived headlong into these songs... through luck more than anything.... a mere slip of the ear while using FIP radio station as a bungee to break my fall from the tedium of life in lockdown. Good old FIP. These songs are spectacularly crafted through what sounds like computer wizardry and deft musicianship. Reminds me of Teleman (ha ha) China Crisis ‘Difficult Shapes..’ but lyrically much more interesting. Love it. Really love it.
