There's complexity and range I did not expect to find in Polish sludge metal. It's not my typical style but when I need to tap into some anger reserves to get stuff done, I find Obscure Sphinx fits the bill.
This is just a great album. It flows freely in the wings, reaching out at times to brush your attention. If you're coming from rock and getting curious about jazz, this isn't a bad place to start.
Big-energy psychadelic-jazz-rock; a real high voltage journey at the border of chaos. Then, just when you think your mind has accepted what's happening, the aliens show up.
I can't bring myself to recommend this album to anyone and yet I keep coming back to it. It's visceral & primal; menacing enough to invoke discomfort. It's the auditory equivalent of a psychological horror flick. But then, days after a listen, I'm still thinking about it. An A+ weird experience.
