Ruin might genuinely have been the only thing got me through six lonely, exhausting and terror-filled weeks of 5am starts on a COVID overflow ward. I’d put it on at the start of my journey, and by the time I got to the hospital I’d feel human enough to face the day. Then I’d listen to it again on the way home as an alternative to screaming, crying, and giving up completely. I love it with my whole heart. It’ll be my favourite album until I die.
