  1. Northwest Passage.
    by KIMBERS MEN
Kimber's Men are incredible and this is the first track by them I fell in love with, though Bamfield's John Vanden might be my favourite. I think it says a lot that "Northwest Passage" is a song incredibly personal to its original creator, Stan Rogers, yet Kimber's Men can do it such justice and bring it so to life.

  2. Hollow Knight (Original Soundtrack)
    by Christopher Larkin
City of Tears City of Tears
So: this is a hard review to write, because I struggle with Bandcamp's character limit at the best of times. To keep it short, this game is one of the best I've ever played, possibly my favourite ever. Part of this is the soundtrack, which is one of the best collections of music I've ever heard, and also one of my favourites ever. If you have any passing interest in the atmosphere, aesthetic, style, gameplay, etc. of this game and/or music, get it now. Team Cherry have made something incredible.
  3. Marble Machine
    by Wintergatan
I first heard this track when the video of the titular Marble Machine went viral. Maybe not as viral as some videos have gone, but viral enough to pass through my YouTube feed at least. To sum it up, the people of Wintergatan are geniuses, basically; watch the video if you haven't already. They built a ridiculously complex contraption out of wood, lego, and presumably magic because this machine (like their other DIY instruments) plays such beautiful haunting tunes. I don't know how they do it.
  4. Shovel Knight Original Soundtrack

Strike the Earth! (Plains of Passage) Strike the Earth! (Plains of Passage)
Where do I even begin! I love this game. I hadn't touched a platformer since Super Meat Boy, and I was born after the era of pixellated games, but as soon as I loaded this game up I had a good feeling, and upon starting the first level I KNEW I was in for a good time, just because of the art, and of course the amazing music. Yeah, first-level theme 'Strike the Earth' is my favourite, but shout-out to 'In the Halls of the Usurper,' 'Watch Me Dance!,' 'Spin Ye Bottle,' and 'La Danse Macabre' too.

    Interlude Interlude
So when you post a "review" on Bandcamp it prompts you with "why do you love this album?" and honestly for this one it's a tough question. Not because the music isn't good or anything, because it is, but because the enjoyment of it kinda feels personal on some level? It's hard to describe but the artist really kinda nails specific feelings/mindsets/'somethings' in these songs, and that indefinable quality is what is really making me sit and play a few certain tracks over and over again.
  6. Fight Songs: The Music Of Team Fortress 2
    by Valve Studio Orchestra
Team Fortress 2 Team Fortress 2
A big part of TF2's longevity is its incredibly charming, funny, and overall amazing character and atmosphere. A big part of building up personality is, of course, music, and for a game like TF2 that oozes with personality, this is no mean feat. Take it from someone who started playing this game around the Robotic Boogaloo update of early 2013: this soundtrack is like reliving the discovery of one of the best games I ever played, by virtue of being one of the greatest soundtracks I ever heard.
  7. UNDERTALE Soundtrack
    by toby fox
    Ghost Fight Ghost Fight
This has gotta go alongside Shovel Knight as one of my favourite games and soundtracks ever. It's hard to describe, but it's kinda pixelly and funky and dreamy all at the same time. Apart from the soundtrack and game being AMAZING in and of themselves, the music fits really well with whatever is happening or whatever character the song represents. I love everything about the game and its music, and could listen to it (and the many amazing covers by the awesome community) forever. Thanks Mr. Fox!
  8. Love Run
    by The Amazing Devil
    Pruning Shears Pruning Shears
Lots of great stuff on this album. Always looking for more no/low instrumentation songs like "Elsa's Song", and "King" kicks arse with the pipes in those vocals! And "Pruning Shears" is super interesting musically and just so upbeat and tells such a good story so effortlessly. Finding this group was a big thing for me.
  9. The Horror and the Wild
    by The Amazing Devil
    Farewell Wanderlust Farewell Wanderlust
It was a real toss-up between "Farewell Wanderlust" and "Welly Boots". I eventually went for the former because I just LOVE how it slowly builds up and the absolutely incredible (and vicious) delivery of some of the lines, but if I'm honest, the latter is proper heart-wrenching too. I don't know man, it's a great album from a great group.

Drinking Song for the Socially Anxious Drinking Song for the Socially Anxious
I will be completely honest here: "Drinking Song for the Socially Anxious" is kinda cringe; BUT! That's exactly why I like it. It's just the right level of earnest and genuine, so that I really really connect with it and properly feel the stuff it's talking about, yet pulpy enough to be fun without taking away from the emotional core. It makes me feel happy and sad at the same time, and just talking about how I relate to it makes me feel vulnerable. Masterpiece in my opinion.
  11. Ghost in a Vacuum (EP)
    by Baby Ghosts
Heaven is a Place in Space Heaven is a Place in Space
This album (EP?) is, to me, the epitome of short and sweet. With songs only between 2 and 3 minutes, it is upbeat and irreverent and the first album I've listened to from Baby Ghosts, but I anticipate listening to many more based on the strength of just these four songs. I think I'm gonna be playing 'Heaven is a Place in Space' over and over again, when I'm feeling down and want a lift OR when I'm feeling good and want to keep the mood going!
  12. Rusty Lake Paradox
    by Victor Butzelaar
The Second Cube (Movie) The Second Cube (Movie)
This album is AMAZING. Like, creating a mobile game 100x better than most mobile games, then turning it into a game series with a coherent narrative and universe, then making a goddamn MOVIE for said series, and then simultaneously making a game set within the movie (and vice versa) while also continuing the series narrative, WASN'T enough! There also has to be an album that perfectly fits and ties together the movie and game! This is one whole album, not a thing of two parts, and it's awesome.
  13. Rewinder
by Grip Grand & DJ MF Shalem
    Suckers Suckers
I dunno how I hadn't heard of Grip Grand earlier because he's on another level, honestly. I picked up this album, plus a bunch of his singles and other freebie albums (gonna pay for them when I can to show my support) and I'm in love with them, man. I have a love-hate relationship with the genre, I only like select songs; sometimes I don't know what I want out of rap, I don't know if I even LIKE rap anymore, until I come across someone like Grip Grand and I love it all over again.
  14. Strike the Earth! Shovel Knight Arranged
    by Jake Kaufman
Hyper Camelot (Guest Director Boss Battle) Hyper Camelot (Guest Director Boss Battle)
I don't know what to say about this one; it's so weird and varied that it kinda defies labels and description. I will say, however, that I like every single song on the album, which is rare- I don't even like every song in the original game! But this album made me love songs I had disliked before. I HAD to put 'Hyper Camelot' as my favourite because of how badass the music and lyrics are, but honourable mention to 'No Sense Running,' which turned my least favourite SK song into a remix I adore.
  15. Hollow Knight: Gods & Nightmares
    by Christopher Larkin
    Pale Court Pale Court
Yes! More Hollow Knight! Literally all I want from life. This is an amazing bonus album, full of great tracks missed out on the first pass ('Dreamers' and 'Pale Court' are finally here!) as well as a bunch of tracks from the two current major DLCs! Super glad the little Nightmare Lantern jingle made it. And with Godmaster right around the corner, it seems Mr. Larkin and Team Cherry just don't stop! It's a bit premature, but GOD I can't wait for the Hornet DLC too, for even MORE of this stuff!
  16. Rota Fortunae
    by Kings & Beggars
Bache Bene Venies Bache Bene Venies
These guys EASILY do the best versions of the Carmina Burana that I've ever heard, and it's incredible to listen to a literal piece of history, and have it be this good.
  17. Worlds Collide
    by pluffaduff
    Aerosol Ghosts Aerosol Ghosts
My favourite thing about mashups is how they take songs you kind of like, almost like, or maybe even DON'T like, and then shift them a little bit to the left and somehow create a song that you fucken love. This guy creates some of the best mashups of this kind that I've ever heard.
  18. The Last Laugh
    by pluffaduff
    Yakuza Live! Yakuza Live!
Unfortunately I'm one of those guys who is or was weirdly into the SiivaGunner channel, so I can say with some authority that this version of Snow Halation is basically the only good one (I'm joking of course but it's definitely my favourite). I love how two "meme" songs can create one great song regardless of whether or not you can take them seriously on their own.
