Loud & Fast Loud & Fast
Because it's loud and fast, but hard and slow, it's how I want my rock 'n' roll.

The best album of 2021, or 1974, or whatever year I say it is. Need I say more?
  9. The Peppermint Kicks

Hey Fanzine! (FREE digital single) Hey Fanzine! (FREE digital single)
Asking me to choose just one song on this album as my favorite track is so unfair. But life is unfair. So I chose one at random. That said, if rock 'n' roll is your life, get The Peppermint Kicks. Your life will improve!
  10. Mike Williamson
    by Mike Williamson
Heart Turned Black Heart Turned Black
A bar-band troubadour, Mike Williamson writes and performs honest songs about real people and real life. If I had to make a comparison, I’d say Paul Kelly and the Messengers. But, Mike's his own man. So skip the comparison and just get the album.

Cross The Line Cross The Line
Riffs, hooks, riffs and more hooks and riffs! Dude, this album is so full of great stuff. Rob Richardson (RKE) keeps them coming!

    Rock Candy Rock Candy
Great, fun tunes filled with humor and imagery.

Sal creates a set of rock 'n' roll pulp fiction characters to inhabit his songs with "The Boy with the Amplifier Head," "Two Headed Girl," "Who's That Girl" and "Starleen." And "Teenage Damage" shoves all that attitude into the first person.

"Big Wax Lips" will make you spit out your milk. And "Beat Club" is the place we all wish we could go to. In fact, I'll meet you there Friday night! But right now, I'm jumping around to "Rock Candy."
  14. A Postcard From The Day
    by The Slickee Boys
Gotta Tell Me Why Gotta Tell Me Why
The Slickee Boys weren't just the first band I saw play in a small venue, they made me want to form my own band. And at the time, I didn't even play an instrument. That's how much these guys mean to me.

Favorite track? I gotta pick Gotta Tell Me Why, but they had so many great songs --- both originals and covers that they made their own.

Here they are, recorded live, the way the Slickee Boys were meant to be experienced.

  18. Music For Abandoned Amusement Parks
    by The Amplifier Heads
    Funhouse Mirrors Funhouse Mirrors
Seems wrong to pick a favorite track on MFAAPs. It's obvious Sal intended it to be listened to from start to finish, not pieces of random content for some Spotify playlist.

Starting with Funhouse Mirrors, the listener gets lost in this amusement park, which may not be so abandoned after all.

Take in the sights and sounds and structures and characters. Go for a ride. Skip your diet. Do things you wouldn't normally do. It's why we go to a carnival in the first place.
  19. Even Time
    by Ed Ryan
Say What You Will Say What You Will
Gorgeous songs ring out filled with hooks and resolutions. The kind that seem so simple, but require a high level of musicianship to write and perform. Ed brings all that, but it's always in service to the song. And in a perfect world, you'd be hearing them on the radio.

Favorite tracks: "Say What You Will," "Next Time Around," "Eventime," "Never Lied to You," "Let It Out," "Breakaway," "Make it Through the Night."
