Utterly incredible. The icy cold synths from Hanging Freud's previous album (Persona Normal) remain, but there is a distinctly dark evolution in Worship. The lyrics are pitch black and envelop the listener into a spiral downwards into the abyss. This is a genuine and heartfelt album that truly understands the era that influences it. The production has Martin Hannet and Conny Plank overtones. The music itself is like kneeling at a grave as ice freezes you. "This Day" haunts my soul.
Cold, dark and haunting in the extreme. Bleak, raw, synths... hypnotic drum machine minalism... ethereal and emotionally crushing vocals. In a word... A masterpiece.
