Allegaeon continue their technical metal / prog odyssey. Lots of Opeth, Tool, and even Type O Negative here.
You guys gotta do what you want to do, but I would pay full money again for a clean vocals version of this album. Based on several of the tracks here you more than enough have the chops to make it work, there's no need for cookie monster vocals except to punch it up.
Pure 90s power metal, like Manowar before they went limp. Frozen Star, Drop the Hammer, Halls of Insanity, Don't Wait for the Wizard, Masters of the Sky, and Ophidian Throne are all excellent - I had a real hard time picking a favorite track.
This is awesome! I love classical music, I love the organ, and I love black metal's melodies and drive, but hate when they ruin it with terrible vocals. This delivers! It's basically boss music for the best RPG ever.
I generally don't like cookie monster vocals except from Allegaeon, but the combination of incredibly smooth vocals with occasional growly really works here. Lots of epic songs here.
