Sahel Sounds is a record label, blog, and project begun in 2009 exploring the cultural and musical phenomena of the Sahel region of West Africa. Via field recordings, interviews, photography, mp3 archiving, cellphone data collection, youtube archeology, the project attempts to expand the possibilities of ethnographic fieldwork and tell a story through sound.
