Thebes is the quintessential Oм track, and I've been enjoying this band for so long that the lyrics are starting to make sense.
  8. When we were that what wept for the sea
    by Colin Stetson
I love Colin's signature musical style of the swirly, fractal meandering dance between serenity and rage. The kind of duality a lot of people will resonate with (often without fully knowing why they do) is conveyed masterfully here - and I think that's the mark of a great artist.

    Naked Sky Naked Sky
This album truly shines when listened front to back as a full course like a classical concerto, and it deserves that honour too. Drama, suspense and catharsis are weaved together brilliantly into an hour long journey.

I love to observe how bands develop over time and carve out their musical identity and Onségen is certainly one of those bands. This album is my favourite of theirs, and the next one will likely become the favourite again.

Somehow despite being mostly instrumental, I identify with this whole album. The different melodies feel familiar and flow into one another and often evoke a memory or two. I am actually very impressed by the music, but for once these impressions are a tad too personal to share.
