Like many GBV songs themselves, this compilation is an exercise in brevity. However, what it accomplishes in under 20 minutes with styles ranging from lofi garage rock, to slow and atmospheric reinterpretation, is worth hearing for fans of both GBV and the individuals covering the band.

I first heard this album around the time it was released, thought it was fantastic. Everything sounds solid, the guitars are fierce, and a few of the tracks really stand out as almost classics. Being able to name your price? It is definitely worth a few bucks.

To say that I am a fan of this album would be grossly understating how significant Odyshape was for me as a teenager trying to figure out the nature of music and my role within it. It inspired me to pick up the bass as my primary instrument. It inspired me to view the violin as a source of wonderful texture rather than simply a piece of a classical ensemble, and it opened my eyes to a world beyond my more rockish icons. The music changed my entire trajectory.
