An African classic. Read the other comments. We're all spellbound by this by this record.

Found out about Touareg music through Tinariwen, like most people. If you want to dig deeper, this record is a (very) good start.

I love them. Beautiful trance like music. Hope to catch them live one day. When we get rid of ths virus.. In the meantime this will do just fine.

Sometimes I wonder: how do small companies like Sahel find these records? And this is a real find. Some great singing here. Wonder what they sing about though. Since they were Polisario related, must be revolutionary stuff. Listening to this I also wonder: what became of these musicians? If you're into North African music, this comes recommended.
  8. The Dark Well
by Aidan Baker & Ekin Fil
    Luna Luna
Aidan Baker knows how to drone the spaceways and his collaboration with Turkish electro-wizard Ekin Fil turns out quite magical.

I love what Canary Records puts out. See my comments on their monumental sampler: 'To what strange place'. Buy it. And than tune in to this guy. What a voice. Singing to you from a century ago.

Buy this. Support her. Every time I crank up one of her coversets, it brightens up my day. Lord knows we need that.

Jamaica has been blessed with great singers so you might have missed him. Used to sing lead in The Techniques (check them out!) and these solo sides are more than welcome.

Man in the Sky Man in the Sky
She disappeared one day. Read her story. In some quarters she is compared to Nick Drake but I think she was in a league of her own. And not just sad or lovely but very funny as well.

One of the albums of the year. For sure.

This brings out the hippie in me. Just love to hear these guys playing the hell out of their instruments and then some. Great band. Set the controls to the mushrooms of your liking.

Such a good idea to combine these wonderful folk recordings with remixes by electronic wizards. It gives a new surprising outlook on the original recordings.

Great, great compilation. You're well stocked Fela-wise? Ebo Taylor? Ready to take the next step buying real cool Afro-jazz-funk that will rattle your bones? Look no further. Love this.

This is just lovely. Again: Souffle Continu puts out really incredible records. Some of them are wild, some them are really out there and this one is just lovely. Play it a lot.

I know. It's weird. But it's free. And they were trying to find something else. Something that wasn't yet done. Maybe they did. Impress your friends and support this great label that has the balls to put this out.

Great compilation. Put together by people who not just know their disco but love it as well. It's a genre which really deserves reappraisal. This is an excellent way in.
