To this day, HOTDS is still one of my all-time favorite Rock records. Stylistically, this album sheds some of the watery psychedelics of the debut in favor of more straightforward hard rock.

That's not to say they don't play around with a little genre variation here and there (stoner rock, blues, a little hard rock balladry,) a habit that they continued on their follow-up Year of the Knife (which even tossed a bit of Zydeco into the mix.)
