  1. Chinese Cookie Poets EP
    by Chinese Cookie Poets
    Bone Catcher Bone Catcher
Punching bass, chainsaw guitars, and machine gun drums. Takes elements from the best jazz rock, noise, and punk and grinds them together creating a slew of interesting textures and hard hitting rhythms. Listen closely.

La La La La La La La La
The best Afrobeat album of all time.

  5. LIVE ON WFMU WITH INTERVIEW BY BRIAN TURNER
by Steve MacKay with the Blue Prostitutes
    Fractured Cogs Fractured Cogs
Dark, hypnotic, and deep sax driven jazz rock. The way the two saxes (and the trumpet on track 3) play these different motifs that sort of blend together and weave in and out is super satisfying. Sometimes one of the instruments break out and creates a beautiful dissonance. I wish Steve Mackay was able to do more work with The Blue Prostitutes. R.I.P Steve Mackay, you are a legend.

    Third Piece Third Piece
Super underrated avant garde jazz. The interplay of the saxophone along with the somewhat disconnected guitar and the amazing drumming make for some really beautiful and spiritual textures. The players really go off at some parts but at the same time they really know how to show some restraint when needed. I look forward to hearing more from these guys. PLEASE RELEASE ON VINYL OR CASSETTE TAPE!

About Leaving Day About Leaving Day
It starts out as Rock n Roll and then turns into some good ass Psych Blues Jams. I also hear some Funk Rock, Talking Blues, and some out there "jazzy" soloing. The vocals done by Robert Kidney sound passionately detached. The brass brings a nice dissonance. Along with the out there lyrics and the repetitive nature of the tracks, it starts to pull you in and you become part of a swirl of pure groove. Its intoxicating and hypnotic. I wish they would tour outside of Ohio. I'd love see them live.

    El Caterete El Caterete
Awesome Latino grooves!! It all lands somewhere between Cumbia, Funk, and even Guaguanco at some points. Cool shit and whoever is on bass and guitar are legends! Apparently the legendary singer Joe Arroyo was part of this group as well.

My Mother Was A Friend Of An Enemy Of The People My Mother Was A Friend Of An Enemy Of The People
Really demented psychedelic stuff. Roaring saxophone while the drums and guitar just keep the groove going. Sometimes funky and sometimes oddly atmospheric? Its different enough to keep your attention but repetitive enough to hypnotize you. I will admit I like the more active nature of the "The Factory Recordings" but this one is still a good collection of cool Jazz Punk tunes. Its cool how there were many acts around this time doing different interpretations of the same combo (jazz punk funk).

The drums, the bass, the pads, everything just feels good. I don't know how to explain it, this just creates such a beautiful atmosphere and eases the mind and soul. Its hard to pick a favorite track here because all of them are just so high quality. Its playful, celestial, and hypnotic. Must listen for anyone who likes jazzy triphop, funky hip hop stuff, and vaporwave,

    The Beyond The Beyond
Heavy, Funky, and fuckin weird. Awesome deep growls and loud screeches with some of the most awesome slap bass that'd make Larry Graham proud. The guitar tones on these tracks are on point. I just wish some of the tracks were longer.
