Tellin’ Me This feat. Jorge Elbrecht Tellin’ Me This feat. Jorge Elbrecht
This album was a lot to take in upon my initial listening sessions, but there was enough there that stuck in the back of my mind and spurred many revisits. A lot of people will be tempted to write this album off as "not serious" or a "joke album", but that's a lazy mischaracterization. It certainly plays with pop tropes but does so in a brilliant and bizarre fashion. There's also a ton of heart here. My standout track is the best example of this. "Tellin' Me This" is a masterful play at 80s balladry with some crisp production and absolutely stunning vocals. Other favorites include the title track and "Living Each Day". Stick with this album. You may find it isn't for you, and that's fine, but don't be so quick to write it off if it doesn't stick right away.

Moonlight On The River Moonlight On The River
Easily Mac's best album. Really personal lyrics, and features some incredible songwriting. Favorites are the title track, "Still Beating", "Dreams from Yesterday", and the immaculate "Moonlight on the River".

Not much I can say that isn't better said by just listening to this album. This album is a constant gut-punch, but it's also incredibly moving. The last ~minute of "Swims" is so powerful.

I'm a bit late to the party on this one, but it's a terrific album and I'm glad I caught it before year's end. It's able to balance being incredibly catchy without compromising musical depth. Nothing felt cheap, and in fact, some tracks called back to some of the more complex Talking Heads tracks. Baltimore is on another level right now.

A really strong effort by Gerrit. So many catchy tracks, but they have quite a bit of depth too. The album caters to both easy and intense listening.

Great balance of absolutely rocking tracks and the more slowed down/grand tracks. The title track balances both sounds quite well.
