Dark, dirty, analog ambience with a bit of a cyberpunk influence. Where the futuristic cities reach higher and higher into the skies, this album dwells amongst the dark, polluted, seedy surface levels. Think 24/7 dark, with only lonely neon lights and industrial amber lights ever so slightly illuminating ypur way. The sound of filthy machinery and straining structures hidden away from the bright side of civilization are constantly churning and echoing in the distance throughout this claustrophobic landscape, in the form of echoing mechanical clings, hisses, and some seriously foreboding mechanical "howls". All with a very analog sheen. The final track is akin to the ending credits, an awesome "cinematic" motif that hammers home that gritty 70s-80s scifi atmosphere that has such a unique and hard to replicate feel. Very evocative stuff!

Among the more mellow offerings from Cryo Chamber. Low key humming drones form the base of these pieces, while vague half-melodies slowly form and dissolve, never developing into something more conventional, so as to retain the dreamlike state of the music and atmosphere it portrays - the album wisely never crosses that barrier of subtlety, and as such it remains a work that the pre-conscious state of mind can completely lose itself in while the wakeful mind lies dormant. While far less overtly foreboding or emotional than most of Cryo Chamber, this a warm and peaceful yet highly blurred and foggy world that, while inviting, hides a subtle feeling of anxiety and the unknown lurking just beyond the fog, every now and then sending that feeling that something is not right as you peacefully drift along. This is one for tired ears and tired minds, that are still looking for that "edge" that separates dark ambient from more conventional and mainstream ambient styles. This is a work I find myself going to often, as I find it can be hard to find that balance of dreamlike and highly soothing yet esoteric and unconventional at the same time. Wonderful.
