How does Mesarthim keep releasing such consistently great material? The artistry is unparalleled. The way they weave a cosmic scene out of their instruments is something to be admired. And again, doing this release after release without ever getting tired nor repetitive.

Bodies Under the Falls Bodies Under the Falls
I finally decided to check out Panopticon and am not disappointed. The mixture of American folk bluegrass with black metal is a unique one, and it is done expertly here. Bouncing from a lo-fi bluegrass song complete with banjo and fiddle (and actual audio clips from coal miners and their advocates) into the screams of the black metal track to follow were risky ventures — but worth it.

The Autumn Fire The Autumn Fire
Disquiet is an incredibly beautiful album. It is really a standout in atmospheric black metal, which is a genre that has pushed boundaries of creativity as a whole to begin with. This album is emotionally powerful, even exhausting to a degree. Sorrow is not the end, but the beginning, as the music takes you on an aesthetic narrative of grief and fear that gives way to a sense of hope and transcendence. The instrumentation is lush and well performed.
