Stunningly beautiful harmonies and wonderful songs. I confess loving anything Emily touches. And her carefully selected collaborators are always simpatico, so "Applewood Road" is another winning collective.

Applewood Road is some of Emily's best work, although, of course, it has serious competition from her other best work! This woman's gifts as a creator and catalyst are boundless.

The Dark Road The Dark Road
Emily has written some awesomely beautiful songs which are better known through her various collaborations.

This is Emily in the raw, the woman and her guitar, which, as anyone who has had the privilege of a live audience will know, is where the songs get truly tested.

Emily's performances are impeccable - these recordings quickly became the way I wanted to hear her wonderful songs, for no reason other than that the songs need nothing added.

This is a delight for anyone that still believes a clever and thoughtful singer/songwriter can change the world.

Emily is that and more, and perhaps she will if there's any justice...

"The Dark Road" is a classic torch song. Fabulous in this stripped down delivery, but it could equally work as an arena anthem. A great, great piece, musically and lyrically, that many a legendary songwriter from the '70s might have been proud to have penned.

But "Letters" and "Home" are the songs that perhaps leave the deepest imprint, at least for me. Someone else's heartbreak that seems to become authentically one's own.
  6. Despite The Snow
by Emily Barker & The Red Clay Halo
The best music works with a voice and guitar with little else. Perhaps a violin and a harmonica or harmonium.

This is authentic music, stripped down to essentials. Fabulous songs that will lodge in your mind and change the way you listen.
