mononome's music stands out in a crowd glutted with similar sounds. It fills in around the edges just enough to help me focus on work and yet remains worth paying close attention to when I have attention free to do so.

    Oobleck Oobleck
I have listened to a ton of Kaki King. Dreaming of Revenge was an excellent album. Glow grew on me and became a favorite. The Neck Is A Bridge... really really great. In my personal top ten from anything I own.

It has a "concept album" feel, like it's a complete story unto itself.
I always start from the beginning and let the whole thing play, it wouldn't feel right to do it any other way.

Genre bending, incredibly artistic, it explores places that only the bravest and most curious artist go.
  17. Stretch Music
    by Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah
    00:00/00:00
    TWIN TWIN
A friend hearing this asked me, "what the hell is that?" to which I responded, "The highest evolution of music."

This may be the best album I own. Honestly it was a little outside my comfort-zone the first couple of times I heard it, but by the third or fourth listen it ranked among my favorites.

The way the instruments interweave to form complex and exciting melodies, sometimes locked like a clock and sometimes at the brink of falling apart... intriguing, captivating, ever brilliant.

Nice, straightforward and unpretentious renditions. Good background music when you want relaxed ambiance without disturbance.

Tight, artistic, thoughtful, intelligent, uncomplicated, classic hip-hop. A real pleasure to listen to. The inclusion of the instrumental b-side is a nice addition.

    City In A Bottle (live @ 2023) City In A Bottle (live @ 2023)
Stripped down, laid bare, strikingly feeling songs but never too-serious in their execution. There are few artists who rekindle in me a desire to perform but listening to Shakey makes me want to take up my instruments again.
  31. In The Dark - MP3 Single
    by Reignwolf
    00:00/00:00
The vocals (both verbal and guttural) and guitar mingle beautifully, unpretentious and feeling. Nothing is overdone on this track, There are only a few words, a strong central melody with just the right amount of variation to not get overly repetitive and heavy, methodical percussion that is never over the top, lending structure too but never leading the guitar work, which drives the song slowly forward.
  32. Are You Satisfied? - MP3 Single
    by Reignwolf
    00:00/00:00
Imagine the Black Keys. Now Imagine that the Black Keys are fluffy white bunnies. Now imagine the fluffy white bunnies being chased down by a hungry, pissed-off, growling wolf...
Bluesy, metally, grungy, grinding, minimalistic rock. Very fine.
  33. This Is a Game
    by Nick Waterhouse
    00:00/00:00
I love this funky throwback soul stuff. Really tight rhythmic horns, bluesy guitar riffs. High production value on this track too.
