Feathers And Bones Feathers And Bones
There's so much emotional range and depth in this album. Always melodic, this record moves among ambient post-rock, soothing acoustic soloing, and even flashes of black metal to bring an emotive picture of pensiveness and self-reflection I've never experienced before. This is an easy 10/10 in my book.

In Stasis (feat. Nikki Simmons) In Stasis (feat. Nikki Simmons)
In Stasis was already an amazing, emotional track when I first heard it on Terraforming, but Nikki brought it to another level. I'm not even sure how to describe it, but the vocals and music fit so well, I swear they were written together (though I know that's not the case).
  6. Citadel
    by NE OBLIVISCARIS
Mother in heaven, this album shreds. The instrumentation is outstanding. The vocals are on point. The riffs are heavier than lead. The quiet moments are haunting. The violin sings its own tales of sorrow, anger, violence, serenity, and pensivity.

    Buy this album.

    No Rest No Rest
Unbelievably heavy and emotional at the same time. This album hit home in spectacular fashion: the music, the lyrics, the themes. Undoubtedly some of the absolute best contemporary heavy music has to offer.

Ever since I heard Ne Obliviscaris, my appetite for death metal with traditional stringed instruments has been insatiable. Psygnosis delivers amazingly. The cello work is outstanding and so is the electronic element that they bring. This album is unique, and I love the contrast of different sections of quiet reverie followed by nauseatingly heavy death riffing, all while maintaining a firm melodic focus. Simply outstanding.
