It's like the good parts of footwork + the good parts of ambient.

Dowloaded falls' discography last year, which has some really good stuff in it, but I think this album represents a pretty sophisticated evolution to their sound. For $1 it is a steal.

    AFRORGAN AFRORGAN
Hypnotic beats executed with this retro-futuristic, saturated, lo-fi sound. Probably my favorite release form BORN FREE to date.

Single White Junker Single White Junker
I'm not huge into house, so I like it when artists are able to take the genre and elevate it. Perfume Advert take the the house/tech-house formula and then expertly weave in these extremely nuanced textural layers. Super dynamic all the way through.

Belleville Renderings Part I Belleville Renderings Part I
I found out about Heathered Pearls in relation to his work as a curator for Tycho’s ISO50 blog while back, and I'm glad I did. I like pretty much every release he's done and this is no exception.

Spacey reverb-drenched pads are supported by focused, driving rhythms while a diverse array of supporting textures come and go. Solid track.
  7. Futuray
    by Wishyunu
    00:00/00:00
    Sprayy Sprayy
Wishyunu pair breathy female vocals with subtly psychedelic instrumentation to create a kind of a Portland alp-pop sound. Think Stereolab + Beach House with a dash of Pixes/My Bloody Valentine.

    00:00/00:00
    Own Ways Own Ways
Quilt expertly constructs solid psychadelic pop.

Portland's Candace make some pretty damn good drone-y shoe-gaze.

Pretty hard to pin this album to a genre. Really interesting production all the way through, worth a listen.

This album occupies a really unique space, think The Field + Aphex Twin's ambient stuff. Sort of quirky, reverbed electronic beats. Pretty solid all the way through, great for getting work done.

    fronteras fronteras
Weird Moog-inspired synths and straight-forward hip-hop syncopation get wrapped up together inside a layer of psychedelic beta-max. Pretty good listen. Plus the guy's from Portland, so, that's rad.
