If Al and Matt and Jason are going to keep writing jams like this then I want twenty box sets!! This is heavy stuff.Sleep is one of those rare bands that gives california a good name.Fuck yes!!
  6. Sacred (Deluxe Version)
    by The Obsessed
    favorite track 00:00/00:00
    Sacred Sacred
This is a really good record. The song that I do not like at all is "Stranger Things." The covers are done real good. I am jamming this as I write. This was worth the wait. I do miss Greg and Guy but its not 1994 anymore and the rock must go on. I hate to pick just one jam when 99.9 percent of the record is rockin.'
  7. The Rise of the Specter
    by Old Tower
    favorite track 00:00/00:00
The Rise of the Specter part I The Rise of the Specter part I
This stuff just keeps getting better and better. And "part two" is just as good as the "first." I would love to get a vinyl copy of this. From the sounds of things, 2017 is going to be a great year!!
  8. Screaming For Change
    by Uniform Choice
    favorite track 00:00/00:00
    No Thanks No Thanks
I was 16,17 when this 1st came out. As I jam this now, man, Pat Dubar is so convincing! I can not stress this fact enough. As if he was the west coasts answer to Ian McKaye. The songs that stand out for me are, "No Thanks", and "Straight and Alert." But this album is ALL killer and NO filler(pardon the pun).I do appreciate Southern Lord for having the gall to put this out. For me, this will forever hold up!!
  9. Can't You See
    by Halfway To Gone
    track 00:00/00:00
It takes a lot of balls/Gall to cover the Marshall Tucker band. And especially this song. HTG nail it. Flat out!! No one comes close. Hey, a good song is a good song, regardless of styles.

    by Thousand Vision Mist
    track 00:00/00:00

  15. Grieving Sky (2016 Single)

I had this back in 1990. I felt the need to rediscover this. I no longer have the vinyl anymore. This is not for everyone. Sometimes that is a good thing. Right now I am in the mood for this. And this will change as well. I get the feeling the band had a LOT of fun making this record.I never paid attention to this but carcass hails from Liverpool. At least when the band first got together. Not that this matters. I just find these things interesting. I still like this record. :)
  20. Slow Ride
    by fu manchu
    track 00:00/00:00
This is bad as fuck!! This is how you do a cover!! I still think they ought to cover "Babylon" by Blue Cheer, but thats my humble opinion. This will more than just do. This is what John Perez called "Blower Fuckin' Heavy."
And I agree with that 100% eternally.
So in other words, Q: Does this rock? A: YES!! Q: Does this kick ass?A: Fuckin' A :)

I was looking for something that was dark and ambient. And NO vocals. Something like lustmord but darker. And I discovered Old Tower. This was my first thing I bought and it sure won't be the last.

It's great to hear Danny K back in the game so to speak. Everyone that dug Life Beyond needs to hear this. This is the next logical step. Did I mention how much I like this? Hell yeah I did!! I just don't want to full length, I want the box set!! :)
  27. Be The Night (Demo)

What got my attention was the cover. With a cover like that, it must be good. And it didn't disappoint. Small Stone wins again.
  29. Neighborhood 8
    by Against Nature
    track 00:00/00:00
I have the CD version but this song always has stuck with me.I remember calling this song as "Section 8." I also remember John laughing at me, not with me. I didn't care. I still dig this jam.!

    Peyote Road Peyote Road
Its too bad a lot folks didn't like this record. I always have dug this record. Its better than anything by the "hidden hand" stuff. Its not Wino's best work but its sure worth having thats for sure.My beef with this is that Wino is not focused as he ought to be. But he is honest as to the reasons why. Just listen to "Deranged Rock n Roller."Any who I had to get this again and it still works for me. and it always will.
  31. Are You Ready
    by Sasquatch
    track 00:00/00:00
The gall to cover a G-Funk cover is bad ass in my book. Its on par with the original. And that should tell ya something. I like it. And thats all that matters!!:)

This is the song that started it all for me. I too , still believe in lost ideals, just as I believe in you!! I still appreciate the honesty John!! Thank you so very much!! :)
  36. The Evil in You and Me
    by Lost Breed
    favorite track 00:00/00:00
    The Postman The Postman
This is a great record. by this time, circa 1993, real Heavy Music just wasn't cool. Especially by a band of long hairs.the singer, Pat Lydon sounds a lot like Wino. This is a good thing. Do yourself a favor and check this out. They would go on to do another record that was even better. But thats another story.
  37. Save Yourself
    by Lost Breed
    favorite track 00:00/00:00
    Circles Circles
As Pat Lydon would sing, "They say I'm dangerous and fucked up in the head. Don't try and save me,save yourself instead." I love that. I feel that way everyday. And the rest of record follows with same honesty. These jams are my kind of shit! Pity their not around today.

This is the album(along with Unorthodox's "asylum") that really set me free. And I still go back to this record. The most intense record i've ever heard. I 1st got this in may of 1995. I wrote JB a 3 page letter. Thats much I freaked on it. This led to me co-found that other band called "Oversoul." Anywho , thank you John, Steve , and Josh!!
