  2. In the Halls of Relics
    by Archana
  3. Icebound
    by Varkâna
warning: do not listen to this album while using heavy machinery! lol . I found this album in a dungeon synth group I'm in and Varkana definitely brings some celestial, meditative vibes in Icebound. perfect background music for meditation, yoga, or spellwork.
  4. Gloom Lands
    by Caliginous Empire
    Closing In Closing In
somber, mellow, and ambient tracks. I could see this EP making good background music during a DnD campaign. overall this EP is a good breakout addition to the dungeon synth genre.
  5. Redneck Vikings from Hell
    by Aether Realm
  6. Olden Tales & Deathly Trails
    by Wilderun
  7. The Shadow Theory
    by Kamelot
    Stories Unheard Stories Unheard
Pretty solid Kamelot album. There's nothing groundbreaking or new in regards to music composition or ideas, but nonetheless, it's an enjoyable listening experience. Catchy melodies and the ever present vocal guest appearances make this another classic Kamelot album that will please existing fans and bring in new ones.

  10. Guardians
    by Saor
    Guardians Guardians
Amazing album. I love the Scottish folk elements present in Saor's music, especially fond of the use of fiddle, bagpipes and flute. I'd recommend this album for fans of atmospheric black metal bands like Summoning, Sojourner, Agalloch, and fans of folk melody embellishment similar to Eluveitie.
  11. Sleep at the Edge of the Earth
    by Wilderun
The Means to Preserve The Means to Preserve
This album is just achingly beautiful. Bewitching melodies blend perfectly with the heavier parts. I love the progressive and folk elements throughout the tracks. It reminds me a bit of Opeth, Eluveitie, and Agalloch. Definitely buy this album and support this amazing underrated band. Wilderun is one of the best American folk metal bands out there.
  12. Echoes of Battle
    by Caladan Brood
Book of the Fallen Book of the Fallen
Truly exceptional atmospheric folk black metal. This is a great album from start to finish.

  15. Ashen Eidolon (EP)
    by Gallowbraid
Stone of Remembrance Stone of Remembrance
The solo project Gallowbraid is a masterpiece from start to finish. This EP should be an essential for any collector of folk and black metal. Really hoping a follow up EP or LP will be released in the future. If you enjoy Gallowbraid, be sure to check out Caladan Brood.
  16. Gallowbraid - Earthen Throne
    by V/A
Gallowbraid is awesome. When I found out there was an exclusive song put out on this compilation, I just HAD to get it.
  17. Tarot
    by Aether Realm
It's rare that I come across an album or band that I immediately love. Tarot by Aether Realm is definitely one of them. This is one of the best folk metal bands the US has to offer, since most of the heavy hitters are from Finland. The songs from Tarot are catchy, upbeat, well written and full of so much energy. The composition are reminiscent of Children of Bodom, Wintersun, and old Ensiferum. Tarot is an essential for all folk and melodeath collectors.
  18. One Chosen by the Gods
    by Aether Realm
  19. Of Shadow and Flame
    by Duskmourn
Where Shadows Lurk Where Shadows Lurk
With Duskmourn's sophomore album, it's hard to choose a favorite track since the whole album is so damn good. I feel like they took all the great characteristics from their debut album and perfected their writing style: The melodies are more emotionally charged, more catchy, more epic. The composition as a whole take the listener on a journey through a feral forest landscape. I can see this album being in a constant rotation for me for quite some time. Well done, guys!
  20. Legends
    by Duskmourn
    Awakening Awakening
Stumbling across this album was like love at first listen. Lush and soaring melodies throughout the album really gives Legends an epic feel. The incorporation of folk elements is just the icing on the cake. It's good to find some quality folk metal from the states! I highly recommend downloading Duskmourn's full discography.
