This album made me cry, laugh, sad, happy, angry, wondering. What a solid piece of art, the lyrics are incredible, Nicole was, is and will always be a brilliant songwriter, her style is haunting and genius.
Amazing lyrics each telling a story in a rich dark fairytale-like language, hypnotic rhythmic music. I haven't heard anything THAT good for awhile. Best album of 2016 for me.
Just a few months ago I'd listen to I Wake Up Tired a million times every day because it connected so smoothly with the hazy dizzy half asleep state of my mind I was in at the time. I'm constantly tired with my work schedule and it was my escape song that would give me the rest I so much needed. It felt like a lazy summer evening for me - the whole album. It's tender, beautiful, calming.
I haven't been so excited about a new band since 1765 when I discovered that music exists! There's not a single song by them I don't like, they're perfect! I'm so excited for whatever they do next meanwhile can't get enough of this new album. Carpels is an instant hit.
