I've been listening to this album since i was a junior in highschool. it felt a little fresher then, i listened to it almost every day for a few months, but it's still a classic in my book that i go back to every now and then.
this helped me through some hot summers at college. it flows so nicely together that before you know it it's over, and you want to listen all over again.
my parents owned the original on CD and it was a listen from my early childhood and onward. we'd spend snowy afternoons on the couch in front of the fire with this on. they would nap, but i would always stay up to enjoy the atmosphere.
there's a lot to be said for beta. some might think it's not as classic or memorable as Alpha, but i think it's just as memorable, if in a different way. it brings a very unique aura all its own that's much different than Alpha, and i appreciate it for that. i've been listening to, and loving, both albums for years.
got recc'd this on youtube and loved it- reminds me a lot of late 60's and early 70's records i used to hear playing out of my parents' stereo on sweltering summer days.
i've loved andrew huang's work for years, and this album, combined with its movie, i think is quite rightly his magnum opus as of now. beautiful stuff. horace would be proud. <3
initially i wasn't so sure on greenhouse, but this album won me over. i've sat on the bus at night after a long grueling day in college, watching the lights in windows and cars smear by, getting lost in the atmosphere of this album, my whole world shrinking down to just me, my sudoku book, and the music.
2:00 on levallaan makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up every time i listen, without fail.
i was hyped for "afterthoughts", even without knowing it existed yet, taking the name of the previous album coupled with its first track. having released i think it's by far my favorite of the two, and some of my favorite work of the band to date. excellently mastered and amazingly dynamic in tone. i can't pick a favorite between saturnine, eminence and almost a stranger.
The retro vibes to this album are immaculate and it sounds like a top 40 album that would have come out during the neon age. Even has that somewhat campy/cheesy aesthetic to some of the songs that makes it endearing.
