Hartzman’s lyrics have reached an even greater level of specific and evocative detail in their portrayal of Southern youth, and her vocal delivery is stunning in its level of passion and nuance. The band fires on all cylinders as well from the powerful, punishing highs to the gorgeous subtler moments. This album confirms Wednesday as the best band we have right now. Bootgaze has found its defining statement.
