Jared. Nerd dad of two. Sometimes I buy vinyls. Metal (or other music that is full of passion and fervor) grabs my heart with a burning hand and squeezes the shit out of it to keep my blood flowing, my body warm, and this flesh-cage I inhabit alive. Dark shit is cool. Nerdy shit is cool. Immersive stories/experiences, regardless of art medium, are cool. I am unintentionally edgy at times; my bad.

That first track is one of the most soul-destroying, soul-purifying, soul-renewing pieces of music I've ever heard. Everything else is just gravy. Delicious, delicious gravy. Ruins of Beverast is always good, but... damn.
Starts off on a somewhat dark, bleak note, but ends on a more dreamy, ethereal (or, shall we say, stellar) track. Anyone who is a fan of long, slowly morphing ambient/drone music (and of music that feels like floating in space) should check this out.
When I say of a piece of music that it puts me to sleep, it might sound like an insult. But I can't fall asleep to music that's bad. I actively seek out music like this; music which helps me dissolve, disperse, unwind, and become nothing but a wave of sound in unconsciousness. For me to say that this helps me sleep is not an insult, but an indicator of how hypnotizing and immersive this artistic piece really is. Also good meditation music, tbh
Bitter, damning, ruthless, harsh, triumphant, disturbing, melancholy, beautiful. All I have to describe this is a collection of adjectives--other than that, there are no words.
Phenomenally unique, a thoroughly impressive black metal opus comprised solely of relentless drumming, swirling piano arpeggios, pounding chords, and shrieking vocals that create an intensity you would not expect from something without the usual distorted guitars. Even with that intensity, the songwriting remains stellar, moving between chaotic dissonance and tornadoes of melodic insanity that are incredibly emotive and pleasing to the ear. One of my fav releases of the year.
One of the few bands that evokes a similar feeling to Xasthur but without feeling like a ripoff. Nihilistic, misanthropic, bitter, and depressingly harsh black metal. The noise of the raw recording, the demonic vocals, and the bitter melodies drive home a feeling of absolute despair, like a hammer pounding nails straight into the heart.
