Synth-heavy records tend to have a cold, floating detachment about them. I feel like "Public Radio" gets that out of the way early (and ironically).
From "Shallow Water" onward, the earnestness in TW's vocals keep this record honest and firmly grounded.
"Monterrey" and "Counting Cards" offer up some of the best rhythmic grooves I've heard in ages.
